And with this pap-smear comes the end of my yearly STI screening I do through insurance with my doctor {my insurance only pays for the annual, any extra screenings I have to pay out of pocket or go to a clinic}
I officially have the papers to prove I am “clean”
Am I celebrating?…
Well.
Here’s the thing.
Sure it feels good to get a clean bill of health anytime you see a doctor.
But I also don’t want to “celebrate” and potentially reinforce the idea that those with STI’s are dirty, shameful, unhealthy, wrong, or bad. Every person that I know of that has sex has a chance at contracting something. And the way we ostracize those in our community who end up positive with something is gross misconduct in my humble opinion. People with STI’s are not lepers. They are just simply people with STI’s…
I mean we all have something at some point, really folks, look into the real STI statistics.
Interestingly enough my very last post on my blog before IG took it down for unjust reasons was a very important piece about STI’s.
I have oral herpes and I am just fine.
My test came back negative for everything else so I am fine.
But the real reality is.. If my test came back positive for anything else, I would be okay too.
Let’s learn how to love and fuck different then we do.
