“You’re right, but fucking someone is fun, is it not?”
“We’re just saying, hypothetically, if all the hard work pays off then yes there will be fun. But all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”

“You’re right, but fucking someone is fun, is it not?”
“We’re just saying, hypothetically, if all the hard work pays off then yes there will be fun. But all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”
Mr. Brightside - Reagan
“If you don’t know what I meant by that, I don’t think you’re nearly as old as you think you are.”
“I’m sorry it just seemed rather blunt and I am just making sure you said what I think you said.”
Mr. Brightside - open
“Maybe if you spent less time outside of the club, talking to yourself and more time inside enjoying yourself, you’d forget all about the piece of ass that got away.”
“Hello, words of wisdom.”
Mr. Brightside
Charlotte listened to his list thoughtfully before letting out a small chuckle. Shaking her head, she said, “Well I’m Charlotte. Ya gotta be more confident in yourself, Rob. That’s the first step. Easier said than done, I know. Liquid courage usually helps. You got any pets? Puppies or kittens?” She tilted her head. “You could always tell some nerdy science jokes. It’ll be a nice change from all the douchey by using pick up lines people use in places like this. You could go for a cute dork angle.”
Rob looked at his feet when she mentioned confidence. Not his forte. “I used to have a dog, Stanley, when I was a kid. I like beer.” Rob shrugged, knowing he was being no help. “I can do science jokes. I know a couple.” Rob smiled weakly, hoping that her bright ideas would actually work.

“First impressions are important. You should probably work on yours if you plan on getting laid anytime soon.”
“I could work harder. But that’s just it... work. Doesn’t sound very fun.”
Mr. Brightside - Claude
Claude scrunched his nose upon hearing what the other said about the person he’s waiting for, “Yikes. That’s terrible. That’s one of my pet peeves, specially that I’m very impatient to wait.” He nodded and shook his head afterwards, “Oh you don’t know me, but I know you ‘cause you’re a professor and I heard you’re chill and all. I’m Claude, I think some of my friends have you in class or before. So yeah. Nice meeting you sir…err…I mean Lil Rob in the house!”
“Yeah it’s unfortunate but that’s what you get when you meet people online.” He curled his lips into a tight smile. Rob extended and shoot his hand with Claude’s and couldn’t help but grin at his new nickname. “Chill huh? Well, I kind of like that. So this uh-- VIP thing?” Mine as well turn the night around, Rob thought.
Mr. Brightside
“Okay, start with your name. Gimme a couple of good facts about you. Nothin’ weird. If you collect dead bugs or somethin’, I don’t wanna know.” Charlotte grinned. “Come on, I’m sober as hell and ditched by who I came out with tonight. I’m aching for somethin’ to do.”
“Awe. I’m sorry. I’ll try to keep you entertained.”
“Like attractive things?” Rob blew air into his cheeks, trying to rack his brain of anything that could possibly make him sound appealing. “Name’s Rob. I like Game of Thrones. I live alone. And I know a lot about science... Wow, I wouldn’t even date myself,” he laughed.
Mr. Brightside - open
“Do you enjoy whining about your love life often or has it just been a rough night?”
“Both? Both could be a little better. Damn, I’m terrible at first impressions. I am not always a whiner.”
Mr. Brightside
“I’ll do it with you!” Charlotte volunteered before turning red. “Oh God, I meant I’ll do the wing woman thing for you. It’ll be fuuuun. I tell people about my great friend…whatever your name is. Talk big talk, tell ‘em how awesome you are. Bam.”
Rob let out a soft chuckle. “You don’t even know me! How are you going to sell the product if you don’t know the product?”
Mr. Brightside - open
He gave the other a once over and said, “Fucking shitballs, this is cool. It never came across my mind to see someone from a school faculty at a place like this. Okay, so I don’t have to be so respectful, wait what am I talking about? I don’t even have you in classes.” He chuckled loudly and said, “Are you waiting for someone? Because I’m one of those kiss ass people that gets to be v.i.p, I can take you with me…”
Rob wasn’t sure whether to take the kid’s reaction as a trophy for his laid-back, cool persona or as a testament to how fucking old and out of place he was. “I was waiting for someone but it looks like they are going to be a no show.” He rolled his eyes to the ground in disappointment before returning them to squint at the strange boy. “Not to be offensive but who are you?”
Mr. Brightside
“You don’t have a friend…? ‘Cause that’s all it is. Nah, it’s definitely New York. I mean, at home people did it. But I definitely didn’t talk about it this much. It was much more hush hush. But then again, we were younger then.”
Rob imagined himself digging a deep hole and climbing into it. “I... I have friends. Just none that I would bring with me to bars as a wing man.”
“I guess I’m kind of more open -- about sexual topics.”
Mr. Brightside - open
Claude was on his way inside the bar/club, luckily for him he knows the manager personally and he could get in without falling in a long line. He stopped when caught sight of a familiar face. He walked up to the older male and said, “Holy shit! You’re Rob Riggs! Professor right?” He chuckled, amused to see a faculty member at a place like this.
Rob scuffed his feet along the pavement, awkwardly watching as the cars passed by. He had the frantic habit of pulling his phone out and checking for messages and the time but of course nothing could help him maul over the long waiting period for his date. Rob turned his head when he heard his name being shouted out from the direction of the club. “Uh. Not in this setting, no. I’m just Rob right now.” He managed to give the lad a grimace.
Mr. Brightside - Reagan
“You mean, you’re not looking for marriage?” Well I mean, I can help with that.”
“I’m old enough to know that marriage isn’t going to come from a chat on tindr.”
“Excuse me? Help with what?”
Mr. Brightside
“You need a wingman. Or wing woman. Someone to hype you up, help you talk to people, ya know. But I yeah. New York has really done somethin’ to me; I’m out talkin’ about sex with a stranger.”
“Yeah I don’t have one of those...”
“Where do I even find someone like that? Craigslist?... Is it really New York or is it that you’re surrounded by adults? Sex can be a pretty common topic, especially in a college town.”
Mr. Brightside
“How come? Buy a gal a drink, dance with her a little…it’s not that hard. Or a dude. Whatever floats your boat. But seriously, it’s not difficult. Or maybe it’s just that gettin’ laid is easier for a girl. All I’ve gotta do is bat the lashes and give a cutie face.”
“Exactly. Like what am I going to do? Charm them with a hair flip?”
“The more I talk about this the less desirable it gets.”
Mr. Brightside - open
“You’re an attractive man, it can’t be that difficult to pick up a woman.”
“It should be a sport, that’s how difficult it is.”
Mr. Brightside
“Honestly, there are much better things to do. Most food places are closed but you can get a good diner meal if you know where to go. And there are definitely other bars, if you’re still lookin’ to get lucky.”
“But you see, the hunt is so much easier online... In the real world, my chances get slimmer.”
