anti capitalism messages are more important than ever right now, with how horrible things are looking, i want oddworld to succeed and keep their integrity more than anything.

real talk tho, when i was nine, or ten, learning that oddworld wasnt making games broke my fucking heart , and by chance, i saw new n tasty gameplay video and i had NO IDEA it existed, everyone knew i loved oddworld and didnt tell me so watching the trailers and shit,i actually cried. it was the happiest news in the world to me, and i’ll love new n tasty for making me that happy. what the game did good visually made me VERY happy, i would save screenshots of abe in scrabania or in the stockyards and use them as bgs, i hope soulstorm can make me that excited too, i really need a pickme up right now.

its not even like insulting owi, its not the same team, their job was to recreate an old ass game made by a separate team, .things like animations have nothing to do with modern technology, its just looking at something that looks unfinished and going “yep, ship that out”

like really im not dogging on the mood change, ((its not my preference for the story the game is trying to tell but whatever)) just the laziness with certain things, its a modern game, you cannot have issues like that, it sticks out like a sore thumb with the modern lighting engines and shit. HUGE gaps in quality with different parts when it should and CAN all blend.

yeah i seperate it too, for someone whos never played an oddworld game its a good introduction, its just so close to hitting the quality mark that the problems are more upsetting.  (owi is saying soulstorm is going to be a sequel to new n tasty like those 2 are connected u know ) new n tasty has alot to live up to, being compared to oddysee. if only there were patches to fix those smaller things like the animation issues.

I haven’t played NnT, but from what I’ve seen I prefer the look of it compared to AO and would prefer to play it (also decreased difficulty so maybe I coul dbeat it), but understand that it is a bit of a shift in tone and mood and can see why many didn’t appreciate it. And I agree the smoke was an ugly way to fix the shadow issue.

The shadow issue couldve been fixed by just calling it “stylized reality” Art can exaggerate and alter reality for a mood of visual effect,or they couldve changed the light sources , or blame it on the sligs horrible vision. and new and tastys mood change itself isnt the issue, its the lazy mistakes that make it look like an unprofessional unity game, it just needed more polish, for it to match the originals quality. it has so much potential, those ugly issues are just embarrassing.

my friend played abes oddysee and new n tasty and hated new and tasty because it was “ugly” and finished d the game with good ending in oddysee. Thats from someone who never played oddworld before, im surprised.

new n tasty looking back does have MAJOR problems visually. its unfaithful to the visuals in a “lazy” way at times, abes chant visual is fucking hideous . THe animations look weird and janky, like when abe hits a wall, it needs to have the full animation of him getting back up or it just looks ugly, the animations in the old game are so natural looking that its almost like a movie at all times. replacing the shadow zones with the smoke....... they should have found a way to keepthose shadow zones because the smoke has to be the ugliest fucking thing in the game, they didnt even try to make the smoke blend in with the colors of the setting. it looks like a shitty unity game thing, and it pops so much. i could go on and on. . i really hope soulstorm doesnt have these issues.
