Good stuff that happened today

Today, my loved cleaned and packed a bunch of stuff from our bedroom. Lego The Hobbit was only 5$ on the ps4 store and I bought it. My headphones came in the mail today. The children got to school on time. I finally have a good character design style for my game.

Is life awful?

I think maybe I've been so overwhelmed with negative and stress stuff lately that I've been overlooking the positive.

So I've decided that I'll use this Tumblr to try to record daily at least one positive thing that happened that day without any mention of negative things at all. Starting now.

Nov 6. 2017.

Today, I baked blueberry scones from scratch. Sonic Forces for PS4 came in the mail. I fixed Yellow (a stop motion puppett my love made in university, who got broken by the dog) and my love said I could keep Yellow as my own. I made Yellow a tiny bee shirt. It was calm and peaceful while the children were at school and the dog cuddled with me while I played Dungeon of the Necrodancer on PS4.

At what point are we going to stop pretending that giving the deadbeat parent access to their kids, is for the kids sake? If you're going to never try to contact your kids except on Christmas because YOU feel lonely, maybe you should fuck right off instead? If you're allowed access to your children but use that access so little that they barely remember your face, maybe you should just go away and never come back? The only way this is about children is torturing them by reminding them that they have a jerk parent who doesn't care enough to call them on their birthday and hurt their feelings with unfulfilled promises.

Today, I am working. Let's see how much I actually get done. :/

Has anybody else noticed that all that anti-transgender bathroom stuff has nothing to do with Trans people at all and is really all about the fear that a cisgender heterosexual man is going to pretend to be a Trans person to assault people?

And it's mostly a movement led by cisgender heterosexual men?

And that an entire group of hundreds of thousands of people are being discriminated against, because a bunch of straight guys all have secret fantasies about pretending to be ladies and assaulting people? And can't wrap their heads around how a Trans person would only want to go to the bathroom to pee because straight guys were like, "oh but if it were me in a dress, I'd be assaulting people"!

And Trans people would be so much better off if heterosexual cisgender men as a whole would only be more respectful of women and rape less people and just grow the fuck up because HEY WORLD, Don't you think you're a little too quick to accept the idea that a mass group of straight men would dress like ladies to assault women and children, without maybe doing a little more research into what Trans people are and realizing it's a little more complicated than you think it is/than you've been led to believe?

I mean. I'm just saying. I can't be the only one who sees this?

Let’s all do random acts of kindness, so when he comes back he can see the internet flooded with people doing good things.

There was a house fire in my town last night, and there was a family (single mom, with like 4 kids) who was displaced. They were asking for clothes and pullups and diapers and such, so I put together a bag of stuff for them and delivered it today. The mother was quite pleased.

As a parent, I know how very important diapers and pullups are when you need them and don’t have any.

And Alex Hirsch has definitely been trying to put in LGBT stuff. In the original storyboards for the Love God's introduction scene, he sets that old lady up with another old lady. It didn't make it through, but he's definitely been trying.

In the storyboards, we see the love god wearing this necklace:

The symbol on the necklace is a symbol often used in the trans* community; the symbol in the upper left is used to denote transgender/gender-variant people:

He’s seen wearing this necklace throughout the storyboards, including his first entrance:

However, in the end it did get censored:

As you can see, it got change to a necklace with two pendants, denoting only male and female:

Yes, it did get censored, but I am amazed and delighted that people in the industry I want to work in are supportive and want to bring a positive, fun light to the LGBT+ community. It’s really awesome that Alex Hirsch and the team working on the show (i.e. Sabrina Cotugno, the board artist for this scene) had tried to make the LGBT+ community a part of Gravity Falls; thank you so much for that, Gravity Falls!
