The last four covers. https://secretpenniesrecords.bandcamp.com/
Recent histories of the DIY scene in Santa Barbara and Isla Vista, CA, can read like a web of bands, artists, spaces, and late-night donut sprees. Mallory Watjeās disorientingly dreamy songwriting is a radial thread that shoots right through the center, hitting plenty of all-time high points (including Backpack, Mammary, Girl Band, Heavy Flowā¦). Remambran is the most current incarnation of said thread, and weāre looking forward to releasing their new full-length recording on cassette this fall. Drawing Out weaves shimmery pop with grungy indie rock and other sounds I donāt know the names forāthe result is something aggressively unsettling, occultish, and beautiful.
Hereās a song called āMedian of Yr Street.ā Drawing Out will be out on Secret Pennies Records next month in a run of 100 tapes.
Hey! I recorded this! And Indy played Bass! So cool!
Hey, want some good news? Weāre getting ready to release the first tape by some of the most talented folks we know in our new home of Corvallis: Pennās Woods! āWhat Good We Doā will be out this fall in a run of 50 tapes, and weāre beyond excited to be working with Mike, Justin, and Wes on this release. Recommended for fans of thoughtful, hyperliterate songwriting (see: the Weakerthans, Restorations) and punk-rooted indie rock (along the lines of Husker Du, Superchunk, Archers of Loaf); featuring members of the Angries, JTT, and Leaseāpretty much a cross-section of what makes Corvallis music awesome. Stay tuned for another release announcement next week!
Until we have a release date, you can check out the song āCome Homeā and a preview of the art here!
label stuff
well, here is the secret surprise i was so excited about! āre-issueā of the seminal and only full length by Athens GAās Carrie Nations! Be Still came out about 10 years ago now and the last 300 or so LPās faded into the darkness of a west philly basement until today. This is split re-release withā¦
We just did a short tour to Awesome Fest and along the way I made friends with the folks in Shallow Cuts (which is a really good band and you should keep an eye out for their 7 inch coming out on No Idea). Anyway, some folks from that band (+ folks that were traveling with them) have record labels. We did some trades and I got sent home with a ton of stuff to listen to. They put a special emphasis on this Carrie Nations LP, which makes sense because itās great. I really do get caught up in the punk librarian aspect of things, these records that donāt sell and just sit and then years later get out, I love it. Probably because thatās what I tell myself when I release stuff and more people donāt buy it. āJust wait in 20 years..ā etc etc. Either way this record is a lot of fun and opens with an old internet throw back that I remember from my middle school AIM days.
Ad for the next issue of Razorcake.
Only got one of theses tapes lefttttttt
Am I annoying yet? I'm always self conscious about turning into one of those super spammy internet label dudes.
Hey Iād like all my followers to check out this link an sign this petition.
If we can tweet an post about racism an police brutality then we sign an actually use our voices to usher in change an reform .
All my black brothers & sisters I urge you to share thisĀ !

As a criminal justice major, I am personally requesting at least some of you check out and sign this petition. These cameras have already been implemented in some cities, and in those cities, police offenses have dropped considerably. The NYPD, second only to the LAPD in its capability for brutality, should in particular put these changes in place.
Couple pictures from the show / housewarming party tonight. Stoked to see Pennās Woods finally, they may have a tape coming out soon and we may be involved with said tape. Really really good. Also glad I got to see Dumb Luckās first show! Featuring Justin from JTT, they played one of the extra songs from that JTT 7 inch we put out a few years ago. These folks are so good at what they do and nobody really knows or notices. It makes me wonder how many bands and amazing songwriters exist that no one besides their small circle of friends knows about. Kind of charming and a bummer at the same time.
Listen/purchase: Smile by Tough Stuff
If you're friends with me on other silly internet things then you've probably seen this a million times in the past couple days. Sorry for that! This record just took a while to get out and now it finally is and that's pretty nice. Indiana and I also just moved to Corvallis, OR so life is fun. Is this a blog post? Am I doing it right? https://secretpennies.bigcartel.com

We only have a few of these left, which is pretty cool because personally I think it's really good haha.

New Trundle Session from Hi Ho Silver, Away! from Santa Barbara. Check it out and be sure and subscribe on YouTube!
This is a thing we did in Tucson!
They say that you shouldnāt judge a book by its cover. Similarly, you shouldnāt judge a band by its name. This holds very true for Hi Ho Silver, Away!. Despite the silly, almost piratical name, the California-based trio is anything but the soundtrack to your next sailing trip with grandpa. The bandās...
Getting a lot of band name hate lately haha. Guess that's what happens when you come up with your band name when your 17.
accept poussey as your lord and savior
Poussey is my favorite.
We're playing awesome fest this year! I love this flier! http://hihosilveraway.bandcamp.com/
