holy shit! The Closet Fairies “No Idea LP” is finally out! Shit’s up in the store currently. Comes with a hand screened small poster while supplies last.  Recess Records was my point man on this.  Big thanks to Todd for being cool as fuck. you can buy the lp from him as well.. he probably has better records you can add into your order too than we do.

In other news.  The Acid Fast “Last Night on Earth” lp is at the pressing plant. or the plater... who fucking knows anymore with the way the vinyl industry is working. 

The Dark Thoughts “s/t” lp is also out for manufacture. It’s currently at Lucky being cut. it rules.

Whoa... i almost forgot that there is a website for stupid bag.  this shit’s real pro.  Anyway, the Waxahatchee tape is out now!  It’s in the store and limited to 125 so don’t wait too terribly long to get at it.  

The Closet Fairies jackets showed up this week, thats tight. the LPs will someday be here and ready to go.  

Up next after that is a re-boot of Poor Forms 8 song ep. Should be a couple weeks before they’re here. 

Stupid Bag will be on the road in June.  I’m filling in on drums for Benny the Jet Rodriguez on their tour with Toys That Kill.  So if you’re going stop by and say hi, don’t forget your wallet.. if you do happen to forget then i guess don’t bother saying hi.

Hi. Even Hand's "Drifted" cassette is out now and up in the store.  I can't say enough good things about this band.  this offering is a bit moodier than their debut.  i listened to this tape on the way up to NY last week and get real stoned right before popping it in.  it made the trip to that shit hole great.  dropped on White Zombie afterward and kept the train a rollin.  do yourself a favor and check this out.  you can test drive this tape out at http://evenhand.bandcamp.com/album/drifted

Whats up goons?! Here is the art for the upcoming Closet Fairies "No Idea LP" that is at the pressing plant right now.  It's a split with the great Recess Records! Originally supposed to be released like 6 years ago as a 7" on No Idea it's finally making its debut with a few more inches added on to it.  

Next week the new Even Hand tape "Drifted" will be out. I'll post pictures when it's actually here.

Also coming out in the next few weeks will be the tape version of Try The Pie's "Domestication" in time for their West Coast tour that is coming up! The LP is coming out on Stupid Bag West (Salinas Records) and  is a bit delayed since all pressing plants are insanely backed up.

Other things coming up are a tape for Poor Form (poorform.bandcamp.com) featuring Legs and Nate from Siren Songs.  It's a re-boot of their Demo for their east coast tour. 

And lastly we'll be doing a limited version of Waxahatchee's "Ivy Tripp" on cassette (LP and CD on the mighty Merge Records!!) It will be strictly limited to 125 copies with no re-press so you're gonna have to be on the ball. Normally i don't like to do limited edition stuff, but that's how it's gotta happen for this one.  

That's about it i suppose.  There are some other things in the works, but we'll wait til later to post that shit.  smell ya later.

The new version of the "Straight Edge Cure" shirt is up in the store! I'm really psyched with how they turned out.  They do cost a couple bucks more because the work involved with printing 4 color process is pretty labor intensive.

NEWS 8/18/14

Hi. 

I haven't posted shit in a while.  Not a ton of news up til now, lets get to it.

1. Swearin' "Surfing Strange is available on cassette and CD via Stupid Bag.  They've both been out for a while, i just never put them up here.  They are both in the store currently.

2. Starting the beginning of October the following releases will be available in the store (or at a Radiator Hospital show on the sept. tour starting the 20th)

Waxahatchee "Cerulean Salt" re-stock Waxahatchee "American Weekend" cass. Radiator Hospital "Something Wild" cass. (finally) Radiator Hospital "Torch Song" cass. Weed Hounds "S/T" cass. (5 years in the making. debut full length) Great Thunder "Sounds of" cass. (re-press of their demo thats been out of stock for a long time now)

3. www.stupidbagrecords.com works now.  my hacker buddy helped me out and made it go to the right place... which is here... so i guess don't bother trying it out because you'll just end up where you started.

4. Also in October there will be shirts in the store from the bands that have been so cool as to let me make their releases hard to find.

Hey! Busy time over here in the "Stupid Bag Offices" (the room where i smoke weed and listen to records).  Both Great Thunder's "Groovy Kinda Love" and The Maine Coons "S/T" are out now!

Great Thunder brings the 30 songs from their recent 2xLP on to a different analog format.  It's 30 tracks and it's really long so you're getting your moneys worth on this one.  Like the last 2 releases "groovy Kinda Love" runs with no real direction.  It's a total mash up of songs ranging from stoner groove rock to soft piano ballads.  One day the world will listen, or probably not.

The Maine Coons. "Never heard of them" "What's this?" "I like those cat's". These are all perfectly acceptable responses to the Maine Coons.  M.C. is Spent from Closet Fairies take on a one man band. This was supposed to be released a few different times by a few different folks but it didn't happen.   After the demise of MC the release was mostly given up on. Fast forward a couple few years and here is the tape.  I'm glad to be a part of making sure that something that i think is really good is finally available in a physical sense with this!

Swearin' "Surfing Strange" will be available on Friday.  i'll post it when it's here.

well, here is the secret surprise i was so excited about! "re-issue" of the seminal and only full length by Athens GA's Carrie Nations!  Be Still came out about 10 years ago now and the last 300 or so LP's faded into the darkness of a west philly basement until today.  This is split re-release with the original label Bitter Like the Bean who is now re-located to Madison WI. Ryan was in the process of moving and had some things for me.  I told him i was going to see the Carrie Nations play in Athens a few weeks later and that i could screen more covers and take them records.  He gave me the rest of the copies, I made new screens, and updated the info a little now here they are. They are up in the store currently. When these are gone they are gone for good so don't fucking sleep on this. This was at the heart of the early 2000's Athens punk scene, one that in my opinion pumped out some of the best punk music this country's ever seen.  

Also the two Swearin' tapes are up in the store as well.

-Bad Energy should be out next week? test was approved. it sounds awesome, much better than it's digital sibling version. 

-Also, i added a new link to your right titled "screen printing".  It's just that, a link to info about the screen printing arm of our operation. it's low key and chill, but its quality and fast turnaround. 

-Habits of Being audio zine will  have a home here on Stupid Bag this summer. The 3rd issue will be a paired tape of interviews and a accompanied zine of the transcripts. H.o.B. is done by Cynthia Schemmer. She's a New York native who has been involved with punk and diy for a long time, she's an accomplished writer as well as being in some great bands (Very Okay, Zombie Dogs, Radiator Hospital) She is also the author of the Secret Bully zine series.  More info on Habits of Being here

-In the busy-ness of, well, always i realized i forgot to post in the upcoming releases, that this month Weed Hounds is recording a new full length that will find an analog version bearing the Stupid Bag moniker.  Weed Hounds is awesome, and not dead like everyone has thought. dig them here

stuff's workin'

Hey eveeryone, just a little update as to what is happening.  

-The Bad Energy "demo" is working right now.  Bad Energy is fast, thrashy, weirdo punk from Philly. This press is of 100 tapes with full color covers.  You can listen to it here: Bad Energy DEMO

-The new Great Thunder ep "Strange Kicks" is also working at the moment and should be back in early June. Great Thunder is also planning a tour for July around the eastern side of the country. Listen to their new ep + a Mazzy Star cover HERE.

-The cassette version of Waxahatchee's "Cerulean Salt" is going to next week.  Katie's been getting a lot of well deserved attention and i'd like to congratulate her on her recent signing to Wichita Recordings and the announcement of her support spot on the June Euro tour for Tegan and Sara. Unfortunately the tapes won't be ready in time for that tour, but she'll have them when she's back there in the fall.

-Swearin' tape is also ready to go, just need the songs from Kyle. Also i guess a re-press of the first tape is probably in order too. We ran out in the fall and haven't made anymore. We put all of our money into a van so maybe it will just become a Stupid Bag release now. Sorry if you've wanted one and we haven't had them.

-Dead Dog finished their art finally.  that is working soon.  They're going on tour soon, go see them, they are great as a live band and as just folks hanging out.

-Radiator Hospital just finished up the first real full length last week. Lifelong shlub and record holder of the most collected Paypal bucks King Sharko at Salinas is doing the LP, and by default of playing drums in the band i'll be doing the other analog format.

Acid Fast, Bascom, and Maine Coons are also very close to being ready.... basically, every scheduled Stupid Bag release will be out at the same fucking time.  so keep your eyes closed and forget to buy them!
