Sounds of love.
Back to mini playlists after an extended, extended break. A few melancholy tinted numbers with just the right light to suit these pale winter days. Happy New Year, everyone.
Somehow, a decade ago.Â
Un film de Blake EdwardsAvec Lee Remick, Glenn Ford, Stefanie PowersCaissiÚre dans une banque, Kelley Sherwood est harcelée par Garland Lynch, un psychopathe...
I havenât posted anything thatâs felt inspiring here for a bit, but thatâs not because thereâs no inspiration out there. For the moment, hereâs an old something that recently brought me some joyâ what a dreamy opening sequence, brought to life by Henry Manciniâs smooth sonic build.Â
Yes itâs June, but I still like these songs as much as I did last month.Â
Hear what's new in indie songwriter, folk & roots. Cover: Lucinda Williams
Hear âEarth Babyâ on Spotifyâs âFresh Folkâ playlist.Â
To mark the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, here's "Earth Baby", a song about reconnecting with life's simplicity. To create a music video, I reached out to friends all over and asked them to send videos of what theyâve been doing to ease their minds during this dark time. What they sent gave me so much hope.
Always rememberâ we're just earth babies.
Work on the new one has started. More details soon.Â
Been a good long while since Iâve shared much, but here are a few songs I find myself sitting with most days. Happy new decade, all.Â
Activist/journalist Naomi Klein makes a case for the Green New Deal.
All I can say is thank goodness for Naomi Klein. It was truly, truly a privilege to speak with her about her work, the worldâs fate, and how the Green New Deal could reshape our future. I highly recommend sitting down and reading her newest collection of essays On Fire: The (Burning) Case for a Green New Deal. Â
Listen to sounds of 10/10 by Robin Bacior #np on #SoundCloud
Made this improvised track last night while looking out the window at a jet stream slash and sink over a very big moon.
Recording this one later this year, but it speaks to what Iâve been feeling, and what I want to remind everyone of.Â
A few slow ones that shaped that subtle shift into spring.Â
A few snaps from this yearâs Treefort Music Festival. We played a quick slew of shows, but itâs always a joy to be in Boise.Â
Rebirth Brass Band honors its home city of New Orleans.
There are a good million reasons Iâm eager to get to New Orleans, and seeing Rebirth Brass Band at Maple Bar is in the top three. It was a treat to speak with them.Â
If you watch too much news, it could happen to you.
In late 2017 between tours I had the opportunity to compose original music for Jared Neumarkâs comedy short, One Way Wolf Blitzer Freaky Friday. The whole process was a delight, and prepped me for the scoring work Iâve been doing this winter.Â
You can read more about the short (and even see it!) via Vulture.
Instead of a playlist, Iâm sharing Solangeâs surprise new record, When I Get Home. This unhurried, moody, warm, textural embodiment reminds us of what it is to provide an experience through an album. Solange has given us a window into her world, youâd be a fool not to look at something so beautiful.Â
