The pixel artwork of the original Final Fantasy game has fascinated me since I first played the game as a child, including the dynamic monsters that seemed to leap from the screen. Only much later would I discover that these monsters were drawn by Kazuko Shibuya, with many of the concepts created by the renowned illustrator Yoshitaka Amano (other concepts came from Square staff, including Shibuya herself). The unique style of both these great artists have become synonymous with the series over the years.
