“there have always been targaryens who dreamed of things to come, since long before the conquest.” — brynden rivers, to duncan and aegon targaryen
"none is so abundant in skill as apollo. to him belongs the archer, to him the minstrel; for unto apollo is given in keeping alike archery and song. his are the lots of the diviner and his the seers; and from phoebus do leeches know the deferring of death. and phoebus it is that men follow when they map out cities. for phoebus himself does weave their foundations." — callimachus, hymn to apollo
"phoebus, purifier, lover of garlands, cheerer of the spirit, utterer of oracles, hater of lies, golden, golden-complexioned, golden-arrowed, lover of the lyre, giver of the soul" — epigram from book 9 of greek anthology
"it is apollo who dispenses remedies to men and women for grievous diseases, and who bestowed on us the cithara, and gives the muses' inspiration to whomever he will, bringing peaceful concord into the mind, and who possesses the oracular shrine." — pindar, pythian ode 5
“the bandages will need to be changed often, and the wound will need to be cleaned.” the stranger spoke suddenly, voice gravelly yet soft and not at all what robb thought it would be. “infections are the real killer, not the cuts. stay away from the milk of the poppy, ‘tis no real help, and make sure she drinks plenty of clean water.” — robb, bruised like violets

“So, who of the gods this time, my treacherous one, was hatching plans’ with you? Always your pleasure, whenever my back is turned, to settle things in your grand clandestine way. You never deign, do you, freely and frankly, to share your plots with me – never, not a word!” — HERA, THE ILIAD.
“You went to Cersei Lannister in your time of need? When you assured me in the Sept of Winterfell that I could trust you? Your actions make me inclined to believe that you are a liar, Ser Ethan, for no one I could trust would ever dare to seek help from her.” — TARA, BRUISED LIKE VIOLETS.

THE SECOND FALCON QUEEN.
As queen, Alya Arryn leaned heavily on the image of her maiden house, a physical symbol of her own lines meteoric rise to power. She’d often dress in Arryn blues, and donned a crown of silver, even suiting herself a new set of personal arms— the falcon-and-moon on sky blue, with the addition of a silver diadem on the head of the falcon. She had not been the first Arryn queen, though she strived to make herself the most beloved one.

࣪ ִֶָ☾. HOUSE TAWNY & HARROWTOWN
Buried deep within the Wolfswood forest lies a quiet and mellow town - once a calm and peaceful place, now left in cracking ruins. Built long before Robert's Rebellion by the Lord Valoras Tawny, first of his name, in an attempt to tuck his beloved family away from where the Realm's troubles seemed not reach them, Hallowtown was a maze of trees that seemed to tower above, it's town nestled cozy with roots that were noted to be trying to engulf the carefully built homes of hardworking families. For years they'd not heard a peep of war, no cries of men in battle - simply the peaceful trickle of rivers and bristle of leaves in the wind only to be occasionally broken up by the sound of an owl hooting from the hollow of it's tree. All peacefulness quickly faded upon the flayed banner that took home upon Winterfell.
Upon deciding the colours Lord Valoras wanted to represent it's household, he'd chosen colours that represented the home he'd built. Foresty greens and earthy browns with a collab of sparkly blue for the rivers he'd so adored watching his young ones play in.
“ one of the many children to garth greenhand, the high king of the first men, isabella was the founder to house fenech, the house of rabbits. for her sigil she had chosen a cottontail rabbit atop wreaths of white roses — her favourite animal and flower — which makes the northern house stand out from the others due to its soft appearance. her castle, riverfoot, currently still resides in the barrowlands along the kingsroad in the north, where her ancestors still live for many generations to come ”

"Account of Major Natural Disasters and Weather Oddities, by Maester Horellos,
Chapter five : The Wrath.
It was in the year 266 A.C that spanned over the plains of the eastern continent, from the shores of the Disputed Lands to the Dothraki sea, all the way to the Grey Waste, a dry thunderstorm so sudden and so terrifying it is still to this day referred to as « The Wrath » ; for it caused such devastation upon the land, many had thought it a manifestation of divine fury. It is reported that over the course of a few hours, the whole of the eastern sky had taken on a deep shade of crimson never seen before, followed by thousands of thick clouds who came together to smother the sun and leave near all of Essos in a sudden night. The land then came alight with nothing but endless thunder instead, red flashes striking the ground with a force unprecedented, leading to widespread panic and the death of many ; be it from the storm itself or the wild fires it caused. The Wrath was said to have lasted little more than a day, slowly begun to recede on the dawn that followed, before finally putting an end to its own horror and making way for the sun to shine on the chaos and destruction it had left in its wake.
Opinions differ regarding the strange phenomenon and scholars to this day remain hard at work to determine its true cause. The most pragmatic of maesters simply blame a very harsh summer, while men of faith see in this disaster a bad omen ; for the very first cloud was said to have appeared near the ruinous Shadow Lands, only for the storm to halt its course on its way northwest, struggling to move past the Hills of Andalos and never quite reaching the other side of the Narrow Sea, while still remaining quite visible in the distance from the Vale, Crowlands and Dorne. Followers of the red god saw in that storm a sign of discontentment from their fire lord, while the most rigorous of septons are more prone to preach it be the result of the Seven's judgment upon the perseverance of the heathens in their worship of the false gods. The few who remain followers of the Valyrian gods of old saw in that storm almost a second Doom, and call it a warning of what may yet come. Entire forests and many villages were left charred and inhospitable. The whole affair sent the continent’s wood economy into disarray, and depleted the storehouses, given how many farms and crops had burned in the process. There was not a single person free from grief in its aftermath, and all in the east fear its return, to the point it is now considered unwise to speak of, lest it rouses the red fury once more."
Dust filled the air, accompanying the loud thud of a heavy volume shutting close, and the prince of Dragonstone watched his friend flail her arms around in a useless attempt to disperse decades of neglect. Prince Rhaegar sat hunched over his own large tome, peeking at the young girl from behind the tall pages.
"Sounds insane." He heard her mutter as she coughed and struggled, before sprawling back on her own old, battered chair. This particular corner of the library had long suffered the absence of visitors, filled with the most boring of volumes that even he had never found himself curious enough to browse. They had been stuck between its narrow walls since dawn, as maester Elias wished for a detailed account of the consequences of unstable seasons on the natural world on his desk by morning, and they had barely gathered half of the necessary findings. Sunshine slipped through the fractured glass of the library’s immense slitted windows. He found Marian longingly looking at the clear sky outside, and even he found himself yearning for fresh air.
"It was." The prince answered her. He had been seven at the time, old enough to remember the faraway dreadful sight of scarlet waters and black clouds, and the relief he had felt when the storm had not reached the shores of King's Landing. "A terrifying presage."
"A storm is no omen." She did not meet his gaze, tracing idle patterns into the grime and the dust. "Or have the Free Cities sunk into the ground at some point these ten years past and we remain none the wiser ? Has the sky fallen upon their heads, has their water turned red and the Fourteen Flames come back to ruin them ?" She huffed, leaning back into her chair to stare at the ceiling above, "Nothing more than bunch of clouds and bad luck, that is all there was to this, if you ask me. This is a waste of paper."
"You sound like your father." Rhaegar lamented. Finally he met her cold gaze, and all Marian answered him with was a proud smirk.
