Five questions every companion-robot manufacturer should answer clearly
A companion robot does not end at the edge of its plastic shell. The experience may depend on a phone app, cloud inference, a subscription, spare parts and a repair network.
What works without your servers?
List the functions that remain local during an internet outage—and after a subscription ends. Safety controls, sensor mute and secure reset should not become mysterious when the cloud is unavailable.
What leaves the room?
Name the cameras, microphones and telemetry. Explain where data is processed, how long it is kept, whether humans can review it, and how an owner deletes it.
Who can repair it where I live?
Shipping a product to a country does not create local support. Buyers need the warranty region, repair address, expected turnaround and availability of batteries, chargers and common wear parts.
What is the real three-year cost?
Show mandatory and optional subscriptions, accessories, replacement parts and return shipping. “Starting at” is not a complete ownership estimate.
What is the end-of-service plan?
If the app or cloud service closes, can the owner still use basic functions, erase personal data and obtain repair information? A durable product deserves a documented sunset plan.
The most trustworthy product page is not the one with the most promises. It is the one that makes current capabilities and limitations easy to verify.
