You know who genuinely doesn’t get enough appreciation in this fandom?
Spike Edney.
I think most people by now know that he played with Queen in the 80s and wasn’t just brought in for the Q+AL concerts, but do you guys realize the full extent of everything this man has done for and with Queen?
First of all, he was actually the 3rd keyboard player that Queen tried out. Morgan Fisher toured with them for part of the Hot Space Tour, and Fred Mandel finished the tour and appeared on The Works album. Spike then came in and toured with Queen for The Works, provided extra keyboards for A Kind of Magic, and toured again for the Magic Tour.
On the tours he didn’t just provide keyboards though, he also sang backing vocals and played rhythm guitar during “Hammer to Fall”.
And because of the timing of when he joined Queen, that means he also performed with them during Live Aid. Though, because the cameras largely focused on Freddie, you can only see him in a few brief moments usually in the very back of the stage.
Spike also later played with Queen during the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, providing both keyboards and backing vocals again.
But his involvement doesn’t stop there.
He was part of The Cross with Roger, and in fact was the only member of The Cross recruited into the band as opposed to having auditioned for it. The Cross’s final album was largely written by Spike, as Roger was focused mostly on Queen projects again at the time.
Spike was also part of The Brian May Band for both of Brian’s solo tours (1992-93 and 1998), and he provided keyboards for “Slow Down” on the Another World album.
He formed the SAS Band in the mid-90s, which intentionally has a changing lineup of personnel - including, at various times, Roger and/or Brian. The SAS band also played at various Queen events, including Brian’s 50th birthday party in 1997, Queen’s Hollywood Walk of Fame after-party in 2002, and a fan club event held on the 10th anniversary of Freddie’s death, among others.
And, if that wasn’t enough, Spike was also one of the keyboard players for the London production of We Will Rock You (beginning when it first opened in 2002) and he was the creative director of Queen Extravaganza (Queen’s “official tribute band”). And of course, he didn’t just rejoin Queen for the Adam Lambert tours (of which he’s been a part of every single one), he also toured with Queen + Paul Rodgers in 2005, 2006, and 2008.
This guy has done almost everything for Queen for over 35 years and has performed with Roger and Brian individually, and the fact that he does not get more appreciation in this fandom is an absolute travesty.
Anyway go read this interview he did last summer with Rolling Stone because it’s absolutely wonderful.

Young Guns N Roses in Modern Day Headcanon
A/N: Sup my dudes, it’s been a while huh. So I’m back with a shitty headcanon and I hope you guys enjoy it. On an unrelated note, me and Admin Alex are gonna do some work on the page and we are just gonna start posting whatever makes us happy, kinda like a new start if you will. Anyways, enjoy the headcanon~
-wow okay
-it’s a fucking trip
-they are probably bigger than what they were in the 80s cause ya know social media
-but like
-bad boys to the max
-so many parents and Christian moms tried to cancel them
-the media loooooooooved them
-bad boys of the century
-so many venues turned them down
-when they did get accepted, they fucking ruined the green rooms
-climbed on everything on the stage
-for sure broke a lot of shit
-all sorts of alcohol and drugs
-for sure post about the crazy shit they did everywhere
-their Instagrams were insane
-Duff mainly just misspelled shit and posted bad selfies
-Axl was for sure vain as hell and only posted bad pictures of his bandmates and model pictures of himself
-Steven was always posting about stray animals around the venues and putting up polls to try and convince the boys to let him keep them
-Slash was, well, Slash
-Izzy rarely posted but when he did it was always something no one expected
-the band account was just a mess
-told fans not to idolize them or do the shit they do
-loved it when the fans did it anyway
-wanted to bring back girls flashing them and throwing their bras on stage at shows
-for sure were invited to the Playboy mansion
-when they saw Tumblr, they didn’t know if they should be scared or impressed
-honestly, Axl was the only one who read all the stuff fans posted
-mainly because he wanted to see what they thought of him
-they were suckers for fan art and letter from the fans
-wow the bad boys have heart
-anyways
-if they got girlfriends, woo boy
-constantly posting about them
-the media probably ate that shit up
-they probably pulled the “Number One Bad Boy Finally Settling Down? Member of Guns N’ Roses out on a date with mystery woman”
-the boys just laughed and said fuck the media
-please don’t show them Instagram edits
-their egos are big enough
-dear god no hoe anthems playlists
-overall
-they were fucking chaotic
-but they made some damn good music and gave a new meaning to bad boys
Motley Crue as hand sanitizer
CAN YOU GUYS BELIEVE I HAD NEVER SEEN ROCKETMAN UNTIL EARLIER THIS WEEK?!?!
Taron replying to a fan’s question about how he feels regarding certain places editing parts out of rocketman
our guy said “how dare anybody edit our fucking film” THATS MY KING RIGHT THERE
You’ve got the band members who’s dialogue can only be written with exclamation marks and the ones who dialogue can only be written with periods and both types exist in every band without question.
Mötley Crüe? Tommy is type 1, Mick is type 2.
Guns N Roses? Steven is type 1, Izzy is type 2.
And god damn it, both types steal my fucking heart every time
Bonus: band members who’s dialogue is only written with question marks Cuz they have no clue where the fuck they are. exhibit’s A and B: Slash and Nikki
