Why every marketer should watch this film?
If you still don't believe that creativity could solve any problem in this world and marketing & advertisement could be a world changing career, this is the source of inspiration you are looking for.
Who's in there?
Lee Clow - Apple 1984 commercial
Wieden+Kennedy - Nike 'Just do it'
Jim Durfee - Volvo 'Drive it like you hate it'
Cliff Freeman - Wendy's 'Where's the beef?'
Mary Wells - Braniff 'The End of The Plain Plane'
Jeff Goodby & Rich Silverstein - Got milk?
George Lois - MTV 'I Want My MTV'
Hal Riney - Crocker Bank
Phyllis Robinson - 'You don't have to be Jewish to love Levy's Real Jewish Rye'
I never thought a SEM campaign would make me laugh, seriously.
Ikea funny and on brief.
So smart!
Microsoft shows what the Surface Pro does - which is anything but be useful. Basically it seems like Microsoft have though “sod it, let’s just give up and go out as we came into this market - as awkwardly as possible”
Also pretty neat they removed the like/dislike button on Youtube. I’m all for arty expressionist videos but you might want to clear up what the pro actually is. You know, explain to people what it does and why they should buy it. How it is more than just an overpriced iPad? Or you know you could do beatboxing, that’s really cool.
Okay, I’ll say it. I love the choreography of this commercial just like anyone else. Guilty. But you have to admit it, the sound and dance aspect of this is killer. Well done :)
Edo period advertising flyer from 1806 for a traditional medicine called Kinseitan
Country: Egypt
Brand: Panda (by Arab Dairy)
Target group: young adults
Sentiment: fear? No, just fun.
Challenge: how to make a cheese brand appeal to everyone.
We all know that using cats or any super cute animal in your marketing campaign helps, but using a giant Panda to threat your customers is a whole new level. Though the series of commercial were a complete social media success I also found in Tarek Shalaby’s blog that the concept behind the commercial may have been taken from a Boston Bruins campaign.
Anyways, remember what Picasso said: ‘Good Artist Borrow, Great Artists Steal’.
PS: when and was in Egypt and when for the first time to the supermarket, guess what cheese I bought? They got me.
Working in online advertising for 7 years had taught me a lot. However, due to the massive technological advances of last 15 years, it seems that marketers had forgotten about the core of what we do.
'Today's marketing is too geeky'. Technology brought us new media, but took away much of the propose of what advertisers should be doing: creating amazing content that connects with people.
Project Re: Brief: A Film About Re-Imagining Advertisement, take us on a journey with Harvey Gabor, most know for the creation of 'Hilltop'. Paula Green started her marketing carrer creating the campaign 'We try harder' for Avis, becoming a major success both for driving new customers to Avis, but also changed the whole company culture for good. Bob Pasqualina and Howie Cohen came up with the Alka-Seltzer TV campaign 'I Can't Believe I Ate The Whole Thing' and Amil Gargano from Ally & Gargano marketing agency.
The project was directed by Doug Pray and powered by Google.
An inspiring piece that will make you revaluate your whole marketing strategy.
