All I Want This Year || Giovanni + Ariana [Event]
Praginue Town. It was a curious thing, and while Giovanni had not received an invitation to the event being hosted in the city (little wonder, there), once he’d caught wind of the it he’d had no intention of missing the spectacle. An entire city created by the power of the Pokémon Jirachi—it was incredible. He greatly desired to learn more about how the Sinnoh Champion had come to make such a wish, and could think of no better way to do so than to attend her event himself. The stipulation that all guests wear masks was wonderfully convenient in that regard; the odds that anyone would recognize him were next to none while his identity was concealed in such a way.
Though he’d had little interest in the various activities taking place around the city leading up to the main event, Giovanni had spent his time wandering through the city and marveling at its beauty. That a Pokémon could be responsible for such unique architecture had him in complete awe. The more he saw of the fantastic city the more he began to imagine what he could do with such powerful wish-granting abilities.
The main event—the masquerade ball—was almost as impressive as the city itself. There was dancing, music, all manner of appetizing hors d’oeuvers, and everywhere Giovanni looked he saw a sea extravagant masks. His own was no exception; he’d spent a good amount on the black beaked mask, its intricate beading and form having caught his eye. He doubted he would ever find the occasion to wear it again, but the way it matched his black tuxedo so elegantly was too perfect to pass up on. The fact that it hid nearly all of his facial features aside from his eyes and hair didn’t hurt either.
The holiday-themed decorations were the most unpleasant part of the whole thing. Even as a child Giovanni never cared much for Christmas; his mother had given him a bonus on his allowance to mark the occasion and that had always suited him just fine. Only briefly in his life had he found any cause to be happy about the season, but that joy had quickly soured and left only uncomfortable memories in its place.
He shook his head as though to rid himself of those very thoughts and snatched a glass of red wine off of a passing waiter’s tray. Most of the guests were either dancing or conversing in pairs, and Giovanni cast his gaze around the ballroom for someone else in the same partnerless position as he.
It just wouldn't do to go through all the trouble of attending this spectacular city without joining the main event, the Masquerade Ball. Ariana was not going to pass up the opportunity to flaunt her outfit that she found just for this occasion. She happened to be in the right place when she heard the invitations go out. Kalosians were just the kind of people to make extravagant outfits for outlandish parties.
There was a serpent in the crowd, or rather a party-goer who was dressed up like one. Adorned in black and green, Ariana's outfit was styled to give her the appearance of the Kalos legendary Zygarde. The look was complete with a mask that covered all her facial features except for her eyes, but the color of her eyes and hair were changed to black to further conceal who she was. She couldn't have someone in the crowd identifying her as an former Team Rocket member, and her usual red was a complete giveaway.
Ariana traveled through the crowd, and by appearances it seemed like she was looking for someone. Most of the people by this time had formed their own little groups, and she had yet to find one that caught her interest. With her own glass of champagne in hand she decided to stop and people watch. Perhaps she would have better luck if she let people approach her instead.
