Biker, Cyclist, or a Racer?
Experiencing Each Side on My Scenic Ride to Igatpuri
Today was special 23rd March, 2025. It was my first scenic motorbike ride after 26 years of riding, and I took it on my brand-new BMW GS 310—a true beauty on the road. Organized by BMW, we were a group of 18 bikers, covering 220km of sheer thrill. The ride was smooth, the roads inviting, and at one point, I hit 107 km/h, feeling the wind rush past me like I was flying.
As someone who has always questioned the thrill of spending money on petrol just to ride (thanks to my Gujarati instincts), today, I truly understood what makes biking special. It’s not just about speed—it’s about the journey, the connection with nature, and the freedom to flow with the road.
Biker, Cyclist, or Racer? Experiencing the Best of All Worlds
This ride made me reflect on my love for all three forms of riding—cycling, racing, and biking—each offering a unique thrill:
Cyclist: The joy of going slow, taking in the beauty of nature, staying fit, and enjoying long rides at a steady pace. It’s a test of endurance and patience.
Racer: The ultimate adrenaline rush, hitting speeds of 150+ km/h, feeling the G-force, and letting the speed take over your senses. It’s about control, reflexes, and pushing limits.
Biker on a Tour: A perfect mix of both worlds—the thrill of speed on open highways and the serene beauty of nature, which unfolds unpredictably. There’s no rigid plan, just the joy of the ride.
This trip to Igatpuri gave me a newfound appreciation for touring on a bike. It’s not just about getting from Point A to Point B but about enjoying the journey itself. The twisty roads, the changing landscapes, and the camaraderie of fellow riders made it an experience to cherish.
Cycling, racing, and biking each have their own charm, and I love them all. But today, my biker side got its moment—and I’m looking forward to many more rides to come.
So, are you a biker, a cyclist, or a racer? Or maybe, like me, you enjoy them all in your own way?
