i got back from my conference friday afternoon (which was fantastic!), spent saturday writing up my annual review, and have been FREE since sunday! i have switched out my winter clothes for summer clothes, slept a ton, gone on several runs, read a lot of my book club book, played a lot of palia, planned a few more things for my upcoming weekend trip to chicago, and otherwise just puttered about. it's been wonderful! I do have a few errands to run the next few days ahead of our friend's wedding saturday (pick up g's suit, pedicure, find a purse maybe) and i also should get supplies to pot my tomato plant. otherwise, i just have a meeting with my advisee this afternoon, book club tomorrow, and lunch with a friend friday. AND it's been gorgeous out!!!
literally something that has been sitting on me and stressing me out and i've been avoiding (irresponsibly) for weeks took 3 min to figure out. love that!

Y’all don’t ignore people enough. That’s why you stressed out.
really love keeping up with my mutuals through their little tags and vent posts. getting updates on how they’re doing is something like: glad to know your job at the library is going well. i’m sorry you haven’t gotten that raise. glad your finals went well. i’m sorry your teacher is so unhelpful. glad your tv show got renewed. i’m sorry they killed your favorite character. glad that you scored tickets to see your favorite artist. i’m sorry they aren’t touring near you at all. glad your cat is doing well. i’m sorry your mom is sick again. glad you’re feeling better now that it’s your favorite season. i’m sorry your meds aren’t working. glad you’re married now. i’m sorry you have to step back for your mental health. glad you’re still here. i’m sorry life is so hard. glad you’re alive, i hope things get easier for you soon
things i did today as a professor a week after classes ended
worked on a conference paper
worked on a conference proposal
met with friend to exchange feedback on conference proposal
dept. meeting
reviewed my advisee's irb documents and left feedback
emailed students about final grades (just 2 today!)
before i call it for the day, i'm going to
re-grade a final project (i am too nice!!)
work a bit more on my conference paper, at least so i can make a note about where i'm going with it tomorrow, since my work on it was interrupted
find and steam my regalia lmao
I’m grading multimodal projects and every time a student explains that their format is “modern” I just feel like ai wrote it. Your “digital blog” is “modern”??? Uh huh sure 😒
"You could get up early and do it before work" I could also wait for a magic beanstalk to start growing in my living room LMAO. Let's focus on things that happen in the real world
