Hi Anea! Which Christine costume do you think would be... not the easiest, but less complicated to replicate? I’m not a beginner seamstress, but I’ve never really replicated a costume or worked on period clothing, but I really want to do something Christine related (or POTO related, in general). Thanks!

My reply tends to be the dressing gown, as it’s basically a wrap dress with ruffles and belt:

With a well-draping cream silk, ruffles of your choice and added sleeve engageants, you should be able to enlong the pattern above and create a version of the dressing gown. It’s probably also the most iconic costumes from her wardrobe, which I guess is a nice bonus.

Is the makeup for Christine solid through each actress or do they mix it up every once in a while and change the look slightly? Also, has there ever been a Christine with nail polish or does the actress have to have natural looking nails? This may seem like a weird question, but it’s been bugging me for a while for some reason!

Each production and each new cast gets their sheet of makeup instructions. This has changed a lot over time, from intense blue in West End 1986 to vampish dark eyes on Broadway 1988 to very orange/pink in the 1990s to extremely natural look in West End in recent years. As for nailpolish, I don’t think I’ve ever seen any bright colour. But many wear a transparent or discrete pink nailpolish. The most “obvious” nailpolishes I’ve seen is probably Anna O’Byrne in West End:

Hi, I do apologize if you've been asked about this before, I couldn't quite find an answer. I've been trying to make a Hannibal Slavegirl costume and wanted it to be fairly accurate to the show, debating between broadway and london, but i don't know what to make the skirt out of. I've seen some productions use strips of velvet and others use rope, but i cannot find anything like the rope used no matter what i search. Do you know what my best option would be as far as the skirt goes??

The ropes, or rather cords, used in the European costumes is a tricky bugger to replicate. They have a light core, with either red or green braided around it, and despite being fairly thick they are super light. That’s why they move well and doesn’t hurt the dancers (…too much…) when twirling and kneeling. They probably have a specific name, but I don’t even know what to start googling.

Input, anyone? ETA: @christinedieae suggested paracord, and a thick paracord looks like a brilliant suggestion :)

But yeah, the US and World Tour versions use slashed velvet, which kinda curls into tubes when cut. Probably even lighter to dance in. Could be a good alternative?

You know how in Broadway (?) slavegirl/Elissa bodices, there is the circle in the middle and on top of that circle is a stone? Usually red or green as far as I've seen. I was just on Eva Tavares' Instagram and it's light blue? Is that a thing or do you think that's a filter? But it's only that stone, not others. Has this happened before?

I love that you noticed that, given the very funny faces she sports in that photoset. Hahaha :)

I wanna say the stone is more sea green, with a blue tone but primarily green. But since the other stones are more yellowish green, the one on top appears blue in comparison:

The top stone tends to be green more often than red, though of course with variations, but the exact nuance may vary. Here’s two random closeups I had at hand (Sarah Bakker and I think Julia Udine):
