a24 needs to make a passion movie musical starring lady gaga as fosca. i've said this before. honestly, i think passion is sondheim's most cinematic show. i've been diving into sondheimology even more lately, and i think steve would approve of my vision. passion needs to be intense.
PASSION + happiness Broadway (1994)
diane paulus, director of masquerade, wants people all over the world to witness the show, even from as far as uganda! she is so fervent in her desire to make the show accessible for all, it's a little controversial! for more information, google "diane paulus witness uganda controversy"

i think the song "masquerade" needs at least one more verse and chorus. i'm always disappointed it's over too fast
we can make up for this by cutting a verse from "the music of the night"

anyone else listening to the podcast "loving you: the untold sondheim"? it's really interesting, it's hosted by peter e jones (sondheim's former partner and friend after that) and this other guy who was friends with sondheim, it's about what it was like to know steve as a person, has interviews with julie andrews, bernadette, mia farrow, etc. it makes me a lil sad that i was born too late and in the wrong field to be his friend. but still really valuable! particularly, it proves that steve really did write more than one autobiographical song (unlike his claims) and a lot of his personal life bled into his work (passion and his relationship with peter aka "pj", ladies who lunch about his mother). but it's also fascinating to learn more about his hobbies. Anyway, i recommend!

It's not too late to suppress all of your wants and desires and to die unfulfilled and afraid without anyone ever having really known you.
an offering for my callout CV
you may have noticed that my blog is disorganized and thematically incoherent and my tag game is weaker by the day. this is commentary on the chaos of modern existence
words to live by
Baseball is a metaphor for life in a way that other sports aren't partially because of the fucking long-ass season and games that are meandering and sometimes boring.
