you most certainly may! I’ve been wanting to write more, I just couldn’t decide what scenario to put these losers in next 💀 uhhhh first kiss? 

Holland screams awkward first kiss. Like so awkward it hurts. But only awkward to him because you don’t even realize he tried to kiss you.

The PI had been planning the date for weeks. After a couple of months of casual dating, Holland felt ready to take it to the next step. And he was nervous. He was worried you weren’t ready to become something more than casual, or maybe you didn’t want a serious relationship at all. 

Holland was a widower, had a teenage daughter and a load of emotional baggage: not exactly a perfect catch. Before Holly and before his wife died, Holland had confidence when it came to romance. Now? He had no idea what he was doing anymore.

Kissing you was something he wanted to do from the very first day- when you stepped out of your packed car and saw him watering his weeds in his pajamas- but every time he thought about trying, he backed out of the idea. What if he was moving too fast? What if he scared you off for good?

It came to a point where he was tired of the cowardice. He needed to grow a pair and stop being a pussy (Holly’s words, not his).

So he planned a date, one that would hopefully set a mood that would invite a kiss. Movies were always a romantic choice, right? Maybe not in a theater, but in a drive-in theater, you both could sit together in the back of his car and snuggle close. Which was also why he chose a movie that he heard was a little more on the scary side.

Leading up to the date, Holland daydreamed about how you would cower into his chest during a scary scene and he would wrap his arm around your shoulders to comfort you.

Yeah, it didn’t quite work out that way. 

You were actually quite invested in the movie Jaws, paying way more attention to the movie than Holland wanted you to.

He’d put the front seats down in his convertible so the two of you could sit comfortably in the back with your feet kicked up, top down to enjoy the warm summer night. He couldn’t complain about your closeness though because you were tucked into his side playing with his open button up while you watched the giant screen.

Holland was actually more jumpy from the movie than you were, and you’d pat him every time you felt him jolt at a jump scare. His arm was warm around your shoulders and by the time the movie was starting to come to a close, Holland still hadn’t kissed you. He was running out of time and, frankly, panicked.

God you weren’t even looking at him when he swooped in, squeezing his eyes shut and pushing forward with blind faith.

When he missed your mouth completely and ended up planting a kiss on your ear (you’d turned your head a bit to reach for your drink) Holland wanted to slide himself under the car and have you run him over.

You were surprised, thinking that it had been an accident and he had been leaning somewhere too and just happened to brush his mouth over your ear. You turned red and laughed it off. Holland turned an even darker red and didn’t pay attention to the rest of the movie, only stared blankly through the windshield.

Holland was in sad spirits when he walked you to your doorstep afterwards, faking a smile every time you looked at him while you babbled about the movie. He’d lost his chance and now he was convinced it wasn’t meant to be.

When he gave you a quiet goodnight and turned away, he nearly stumbled when you snagged the collar of his shirt in your hands to stop him. Your hands were warm against his jaw when you brought his face down to yours, and your lips were even warmer. 

Holland didn’t even react, just stood there like an idiot.

It happened! It finally happened!

You didn’t seem put off by his lack of a response, laughing at his dazed eyes when you pulled away. 

With a gentle straitening of his shirt, you strolled into your house and shut the door. 

Holland stood on your porch for 5 whole minutes in shock before your door opened again and you beckoned him inside. He didn’t hesitate this time.
