This is not a tasty gummy sweet but a Jewel Caterpillar found in Amazon Rainforest. They are covered with sticky goo-like, gellatinous tubercles that provides protection from its predator like ants until they metamorphosise into winged moths.

This 4,060-year-old clay (“cuneiform”) tablet from Umma, modern Djoka, is a receipt signed by the temple scribe and is the oldest item in Special Collections & University Archives at the University of Iowa.

4000 years old: this must be one of the oldest surviving receipts of payments signed by a scribe. Such evidence is rare, in medieval times and before, mainly because receipts were not meant for keeping very long. Great that this one happened to survive four millennia - and presently receives the care it deserves.
