#Repost @atomicathlete with @repostapp ・・・ During the Summer of 2013 I began training for the US Army's Special Forces Assessment and Selection (SFAS) and Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC). I chose Jake and Atomic Athlete to be my training partners. I made this decision based on Atomic's experience working with athletes from various units within the special operations community. As one of the 'beta testers' for the Soldier program, I provided Atomic with feedback to refine and enhance the Soldier training plan for future athletes. The Atomic team continues to develop relationships with current and future special operations personnel; these relationships ensure current and relevant data for programming development. I had no high school or collegiate athletic experience, I was training for a program where my peers would be 10-18 years younger than me. Yet I was successful, in no small part due to Atomic Athlete's programming and coaching. I relied on Atomic's continued coaching and guidance throughout the 18 months of the SFQC. Moreover, I was able to proceed throughout each phase of training without delay or recycling due to injury, illness or any other reason. Immediately upon my completion of the SFQC and Military Free-Fall Parachutist Course (MFFPC), I began training for the Combat Diver Qualification Course (CDQC) and its' pre-requisite Maritime Assessment Course (MAC). While physically challenging for even the fittest candidates, the level of mental fatigue and stress I sustained while preparing for Special Forces Underwater Operations exceeded any other training I have experienced to date. While the gym can never replicate the stressors of the maritime environment, the gym can build a foundation of 'mental toughness'. Atomic programming has always tested one's to ability to find comfort in being uncomfortable; to utilize failure as a stepping stone to success. These abilities are the core of mental toughness, and you don't have to be a military member to see the benefits of developing it. -TB (at Austin, Texas)
