“Who is Mohammed Avdol?”

Araki never gave us Avdol’s backstory, but he *did* show us a lot about Avdol in canon. By looking at Avdol’s canonical words and actions– including the contradictions that sometimes arise between them– fans can draw their own conclusions about the kind of person Avdol is (his strengths, his flaws, his values), and what kind of background he might have.

(Also, full disclosure: I hope this post can challenge the common claim that Avdol is best described as the “calm,” “mature” one of the group. Based on canon, from what I can tell, that’s just how he *wants* to be seen; in fact, he’s much more flawed– and, to me, more interesting– than that…! [And I’m pretty sure the calmest, most mature person in the group is probably Kakyoin…?] [I digress…])

Things we know about Mohammed Avdol from canon:

1. Is Egyptian; knows Cairo well; is presumably Muslim and/or comes from a Muslim family, given his name “Mohammed” and Egypt’s predominantly Muslim population.

2. Knows how to drive a submarine, but is never seen driving a car?

MODERN CRUSADERS ALIVE

Finally done!! I’ve been working on these redesigns for well over a month since I could barely find time between commissions, but they are DONE!

Stardust Crusaders is my favourite part & cast (i’ve been dropping subtle hints about that so you might’ve known that already), but I think Araki brought some of his top fashion game in Golden Wind, so I decided I wanted to redesign the Crusaders in the fashion style of Golden Wind! 

I put a lot of thought into all of these, I really hope you like them!!
