Please don’t ever grow up.
I hope you fall in love with someone who never lets you fall asleep thinking you’re unwanted.

Tips & Tricks for Nursing School
Nursing school sucks. And by sucks I mean you count down the seconds to graduation after you walk in the door for orientation. With only a semester left to go, I put together some strategies that have helped me somewhat survive ((if you can even call it that)).
1. ORGANIZE YOUR SCHEDULE
People laugh at me for saying this but I’m sorry there’s nothing worse than planning to go out partying with friends and then that friday someone reminds you that on monday is your exam ((that’s probably 25% of your grade because why not just throw that on you)).
The second they post a syllabus I take out a planner/put into my calendar on my computer the days I have an exam/assignments due/etc. It’ll make your life easier.
Don’t forget to schedule time for yourself! It can be hard to work around family/friends/gym/etc. My first semester I never went anywhere- family parties, out with friends, the gym, you name it. But it’s not healthy and can lead to burnout QUICK. Look at your schedule and try pushing things around it.. You CAN do both.
2. FIND A RELIABLE GROUP OF FRIENDS
If you don’t have a group of friends that are as serious about your goals of becoming an RN as you are, it’s not going to work. Friends outside of your program are NOT going to understand the amount of work you’re expected to do and what standards you have to go by.. But we don’t know what their workload is like either! Nursing friends are literally a gift, the right ones can really motivate you.
3. CONTINUE YOUR NORMAL ACTIVITIES
Don’t let school stop you from going to the gym, dancing, kickboxing, etc. My first semester I can’t tell you how much stress I had built up because I deprived myself of my outlet. Like I said, you can do both. Schedule, schedule, schedule. Believe me, your stress levels are already through the roof, do something to help them.
4. LEAVE YOURSELF AT LEAST A WEEK TO STUDY
Things come up. Exams may come at you before you know it and the next thing you know there’s two days until the exam and you’re surviving off of red bull. That’s going to do nothing for you. Depending on the amount of material, leave yourself at least a week. Do a few hours a day and as it comes closer do a little more depending on how you feel. It’s amazing how much better you know the material when you don’t cram it in- this is coming from a former cramer.
5. FIND YOUR STUDY NITCH
Before nursing school I called studying reading through a paper 5 times and taking the exam and obtaining a 97. Nursing school, studying for me is reading through the numerous chapters multiple times, underlining, bolding, highlighting, rewriting, watching videos, reading again, taking quizzes. It is A LOT of work. I’m not going to lie and it sucks 99.9% of the time. But what worked before, may not work now! You have to find your way.
6. ENJOY IT
Nursing school has 10000000% stressed me out, but it has so far taught me a lot about myself. I’ve become a better friend, daughter, and girlfriend and it’s not because of the skills I’ve obtained. But, you see the best and worst of people. You hear a lot of life stories, bucket lists, regrets. It molds you. And is honestly one of the best things in the world.
