This as all happened before, and it’ll all happen again.
So say we all.

When I first started playing roller derby I lived with Ciderella (ARRG). We both went to lots of punk and hardcore gigs in Edinburgh and initially heard of Roller Derby after seeing a flyer in Bannermans where we used to drink.
Awesome words about the changing face of Roller Derby and it's sliding shift from punk underground towards the mainstream. And it starts with a sort of dictionary entry which I like.
Riding the Track - Finding the path is the easy part, sticking to it, well that’s another story! The track is almost an oval (kinda more of a rounded rectangle on the outside edge but you catch my drift!) but if you can ride it like a circle you’ll be able to do crossovers the whole way around the track… Imagine that you are the light purple dots, basically that is your path, and if you can follow it you should be able to do crossovers the whole way around.

Bag O' Dicks
Alternate term for the jammer ref's hand signal of a five-point scoring pass, with all five fingers extended.
"...and with Betty Bruiser in the penalty box, Varla picks up another great big BAG 'O DICKS!"
So named because of the referee's extended five fingers, wiggling proudly in the air.

Men's Derby, Dangle Derby, Broller Derby
So, in just a couple of weeks I'll be researching more derby dictionary entries at the Men's Europeans Roller Derby Championship in Birmingham, U.K. and it's made me wonder... What's your favourite terms associated with Men's Roller Derby?
YAY! Men’s Derby World Cup is on at the Futsal Centre in Birmingham, UK in 2014. You can stalk them on FB here; https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mens-Roller-Derby-World-Cup/105466022972184
Turn your skates over & educate yourself. It’s good to know the proper terms for your skates!
Wedgie Whip
Wedgie Whip
When you teammate takes a whip from you by grabbing a hold of your underwear.
Missionary Block
Missionary Block
The missionary block is where the block is performed face to face i.e. one skater is facing clockwise on track.
Patient Offence, Passive Offence
Passive Offence
Normally associated with the Power Jam, the passive offence sees the team with the jammer on track remaining as stationary as possible, while the penalty killing team try to hold the jammer as long as possible before either they run out of engagement zone or there is a no pack.

Perma-Goat
Thanks to http://www.derbylife.com/articles/2013/04/permagoat for giving me this new one to use: Perma-Goat The blocker that seems to be always the one behind the wall of opposing blockers controlling pack speed. See Goat
