The ‘Past Futures’ Exhibit - Venice Biennale 2015.

The ‘Past Futures’ exhibition is a look through time, from beginning to end to beginning. Our proud collection of artworks have been arranged beside each other in a circular room, organised as to move forward in time, delving into the past, present and future of art and society. Our wide range of artists have been selected based upon their respective time periods. ‘Past Futures’ sees the present as the turning point, the end of the line in regards to new and innovative art movements – for the post-modern view of art will disintegrate into ambiguity, and the yearning for a more solidified definition of art will call society back to traditional art forms. Thusly, we have assembled prior pivotal movements to then be followed by similar styles, yet are subjected to humanities future. Subsequently the ‘Past Futures’ exhibit will exude the future of art and society, and how familiar it feels.

Since our group is exploring a time loop, we predicted that future humans will then be not so human after all with parts machine to assist with movement, sight and other abilities that then become “superhuman”.

COFA1002 class activity. Lingerie is produced purely for desire so our project satirises it by altering it to show the inner desire achieved from lingerie. We have explicitly and overly sexualised this to explore the true intention behind lingerie and sexual activities. crispystudentdinosaur

Glitch Reality

A lot of people refer to glitch as an randomized error which causes the general aesthetics of the original object or subject to lower. I speak in terms of the experimentation and presentation from the COFA1001 classes last semester where many groups focused on the concept of “failure” to be a lack of aesthetics due to errors in their work.

For my poster, I wanted to focus on the aesthetic nature of glitches and the beauty within these random errors that can occur, whether intentional or non intentional.

Psychological Meanings of Colours

These websites have assisted me in determining what colors to associate with taste for the final part of my assessment, in combination with my own interpretations of what eat color means to me.

Within these websites, I have derived that:

Red is the colour of excitement and energy, sugar or sweets

Blue is the colour of calmness and serenity, creamy

Yellow is the colour of criticism and fear, sour or bitter

Green is the colour of balance and freshness, natural or organic foods

Black  is the colour/shade of depression, disgust 

I will be using these colours and their respective meanings to create my final project

Seeing through Tasting

For my final experiment, I wanted to explore how we can taste food and interpret it through colors. This may sound simple or cliche, however, tasting with color has a very psychological nature behind it. If we aren’t able to see what we are eating, then how exactly can we determine what we ARE eating? Assuming we already know what simple foods taste like, such as apples, bread, coffee; we know the familiarity of the taste. But, if we were to COMBINE different elements together, we would find that it becomes more difficult to determine what we are really putting in our mouths. I wanted to document the taste of a combination of different elements and interpret it through color based on the psychological properties of colors.

These website are just a few samples which I have used to determine which colors to associate with which tastes depending on what the food does to my taste buds. This will be done while blindfolded.
