“I’d love to. I spent a lot of time at the Met when I was young because I just loved being around all of the art. There’s such history there chronicled in the art.”

“I do, at the one down the street even.” He smiles to her as he sets his coffee cup down. “Just to clarify its the history museum, not a lot of art in it” 

“All museums have their own merits. It’s a thing that I do when I have downtime when I’m on location. I like to learn.”

Emil smiled slightly and shrugged. “The two are not mutually exclusive,” he pointed out with another smile. “European History. My class focuses in particular on the Wars of the Roses to the end of the Tudor era.”

“I take you like period dramas then?” she asked. She’d done some Shakespeare on the stage in here time and admittedly knew quite about the era because of his history plays.

“Well when people see something they like, they want t know everything about it. People aren’t an exception to that. What matters at the end of the day, though, is what you want people to know. Controlling the narrative.” She tilted her head at her and smiled. “Yeah? So you act for truth and all that? The paycheck doesn’t hurt, I guess?”

“I try to balance all of that. Share just enough with people. Some people simply like to see behind the scenes stuff or want to see how I’m doing and what I’m up to, and I get that, but some people can be too pushy about it all,” she said with a bit of a sigh. She’d heard horror stories. “It was never about the paycheck, but it doesn’t hurt. We sadly need money to live. I have just always loved it. It was a home for me, a community.”

“I would love to. It’s been a while since I’ve been anyway. I love when they have baby big cats. Little lions and tigers are cute as can be.”

Down. Always down when she’s asleep. 

16. do they prefer taxis / buses / subways, etc? or none of the above?

She likes to walk when she can, but if she can’t she’ll take the subway. 

25. do they get scared easily? does loud noises, shouting, etc, scare them?

She doesn’t scare too easy. If she’s too deep in thought and someone talks to her she’s prone to startle, but other than that she’s pretty unscareable. 

50. where do they see themselves in 2 / 5 / 10 years?

She hasn’t had any long term plans for a while other than continuing acting and maybe getting into directing.

Alba gave her a small, polite -slightly forced- smile and sat down across from her. She didn’t get out her notepad or anything. She had bombarded the woman’s day, she wasn’t going to make her more uncomfortable with the backdrop of a formal interview. “That’s because a lot of journalist are assholes only worried about what sells.” She flicked her wrist offhandedly. “I mean, yes, I’m also worried about what sells magazines, but I’m also interested in telling people’s truth. Believe it or not, some people actually still like that. Hell, they even appreciate it.”

“Those kinds don’t care much for people’s privacy. They’re too invasive about, well, everything,” Romina said. She was always worried about people being too prying and wanting to know too much about her personal life. “That’s how I am with my acting. You have to worry about the sales and the reviews, but the story and the truth of it matters just as much.”

“I am,” Romina replied with a small nod. “It’s not so much about bravery as much as it is love,” she confessed. “What subject do you teach?”

This entire conversation was frustrating. He’d loved her, but had felt compelled to serve. Ultimately, leaving Mari and Si behind had been more difficult for him than leaving Romina. They had no choice when it came to having to deal with the person who returned home, but Mina did, and he’d preemptively saved her the heartbreak. “I know,” he finally admitted, quickly. “But I could never have asked you to.” 

Perhaps her flaw was that her heart was far too big for its own good. Several people had told her that over the course of her life. “So, that’s it, huh?” she asked. “You didn’t want to have me to wait and have to deal with the aftermath? You know I would have done it regardless.” Mina wondered if guilt played into it. If he would have felt guilty about her waiting and dealing with the aftermath despite her wanting to.

“I think it’s a little bit of both,” she said with a sigh. “That’s never a good combination, now, is it?”
