“Damn right,” she replied, nodding her head. Lily shrugged her shoulders, then — not out of humility or insecurity, just because she felt there was MORE that could be done. She wasn’t good with situations where she had little to no power. Remus’ lycanthropy was something she had no control over. “I’m glad it does. And luckily, we’re not going anywhere — you’ll have to deal with us for the rest of our lives.” A promise she knew she and the others might not be able to keep, with the way things were, but she didn’t try to dwell on that. “Er — yeah, I’ll try and refrain. I do trust you, always. What is it? Something wrong?”
Remus wasn’t particularly keen on this conversation. He hated that he had to have it at all. He wanted to run with the boys, after all. They made this curse of his something bearable, made the time of the month was once painful and traumatizing something he not only could survive but something a small part of him looked forward to. And he was going to put all of that in jeopardy because Dumbledore had asked him too. Remus hated him for it, a little bit. But he owed the man. And it was something he could do that no one else could. So he steadied himself and took a breath. “ No, no, nothing’s – wrong.” He cleared his throat. “The boys are going to be cross with me tonight. I know it’s not fair of me to ask, you being with James and all, but I just need someone on my side with this. I want – “ he paused screwing up his courage “ – I need to run without them tonight.”
