Monday morning is another snow day. Gail heads off to work and Cesaro potty trains Shayna. That's when I noticed the orange glow behind the wall. Yet another fire.

It's time for Shayna's birthday, so of course it's Cesaro that brings her to her cake. She is a total cutie, who'd have thought it with Nery as a father.

Garden of Shadows: a preservation effort

Like many of us, I grew up with Garden of Shadows. To me, it was more than just a forum. It was a place I could ask for help, learn new skills and, best of all, find amazing content in any style I could possibly want. I loved the board names, the people, the themes; everything, really.

And I admit I was more than a little heartbroken to find it gone.

After mulling it over, I decided that I wanted to preserve what I possibly could. I spent a few hours yesterday running through strategies and ideas about how to best go about it, and the best I could come up with was, well, exactly the same.

So, here it is: the Garden of Shadows mirror forum.

I've only just started, but I hope to add a little bit to it every day. The primary focus will be on preserving all the knowledge and custom content. I'm tackling it myself, but if you feel so inclined, you're more than welcome to join in.

PS. I am not here to offend, break Terms of Use, or to step on any toes. This is simply an effort to preserve content and knowledge for a game I have played and loved for over twenty years. Thank you ♥

At first glance, nothing in the Blackbird household had changed. Marcus still cleaned the house. Gabriel still spent his days resting. Annika still ambled about, drifting between her bed and the backyard.

Everything seemed normal... until you noticed Annika’s too-rounded belly, or the gashes and bruises on Gabriel’s face.

It had been months since the dragon attack, but nothing was really resolved. Healers came and went, all offering the same, unhelpful advice: clean the wounds, manage the infection, rest. Nobody could tell them what came after. Dragon injuries were unpredictable, after all.

The house smelled permanently of herbs and ointments now, heavy enough to cling to the throat. Annika was supposed to rest, but she rarely did. She knew Marcus would flip his shit if he saw her with a sword, but fencing was the only thing that kept her from going insane.

She needed something to do with herself, otherwise she wasn’t sure what would be left of her.

Gail manages to squeeze in another date before heading off to work. I think that's 7 now, she's going to struggle to hit 50. Let's hope she has a long healthy life ahead of her.

Note to self, change that townie's outdoorwear.

And this is probably why Cesaro wasn't happy so see a new sibling, he knew he'd be the one looking after her.

Gail goes into labour and gives birth to a daughter, Shayna Baszler. Thankfully it's not twins this time. At least one child is happy to have a new sister.

Addressing a few concerns

So, I assume most of you don't know, but there is a bit of drama inside the Paralives community. It's funny because this whole thing is revolving around The Sims 3.

TwistedMexi made his first paywalled "early access" mod called Sims 3 Camera, and I've been working on the same thing as he was. 1. Let's get the "clone" allegation out of the way first.

TwistedMexi is accusing me of cloning his mod, but let’s look at the facts. Thankfully, I always use GitHub, so the commit dates are there to prove it.

Honestly, I didn't know I could see the future, but ok.

2. The second thing I want to address is that currently there are a lot of awful comments directed at Tmex. PLEASE do not harass other creators.

3. Regarding early access and paywalls: My mods are developed in my spare time as a passion project. I believe in keeping my work accessible to everyone, which is why all of my content will remain completely free, forever. I believe the community should play a role in maintaining projects if the original creator steps away, which is why I always share the source code for my projects Free mods are a pillar of a healthy community, whereas paywalls only lead to gatekeeping and unnecessary drama. My hope is that more creators choose to release their mods in a way that prioritizes community growth and shared resources.
