“I wouldn’t call myself hers,” Kaze responded. “Nor would I say she speaks highly of me when it’s more like fawning over me. …But yes, I am technically Yuki-tan’s. You one of her shiny new toys?”

“I was being sarcastic when I said she speaks so highly of you.” He sighed. “And I’m no one’s toy. No way in hell would I let someone as annoying as her ‘play’ with me anyways. I can see why you can’t stand her either.”

“Yeeep,” Yukina sighed, exasperated, “you’ll get along with Kaze-san just fine. He could use a friend, anyway.”

She liked to toy around with the swords a bit when they’re new, but Tsuchi was being too stand-offish. For now, leaving him alone or backing off on the teasing would be the best option for dealing with his attitude.

“Alright, I’m sorry, Tsuchimaru. And don’t worry, I don’t intend on insulting anything about your former master.” With an awkward smile and a halfhearted laugh, she determined that it might be best to suck up to this new guy, as she didn’t want him snapping and killing her in a fit of rage and she didn’t know him well enough to be sure of his personality yet.

“Tch.” Tsuchimaru turned around slightly to see her face. He wasn’t about to buy into it. It’ll take more than that to earn his trust. Especially considering she just insulted his name not that long ago.

He turned back around to face the door once more, still tempted to leave. He crossed his arms in front of his chest. “Sure..”

Tired of dealing with Yukina’s nonsense, Tsuchimaru decided to search for one sword that piqued his interest. After a while of searching, he spotted the brooding black haired male and approached him.

“I take it you’re the one that’s Yukina’s sword? The one she speaks so ‘highly’ of?”

Tsuchimaru looked at the mess of leaves on the ground then over at Yagen.

“Are you merely just stating the obvious or trying to tell me something?”

“Tsuki-kun, I said that at the very least it’s me who loves this stuff. I don’t exactly leave the Citadel very much, and for most of my errands bar meeting my parents, I just send one of the swords to take care of it.”

Yukina yawned and set the latte down next to where she was seated. Tsuchi’s grumpiness was nothing new since she’d brought Kagayakaze to life, so rather than taking it personally she was just going to wait it out and tease him on occasion in hopes that he would eventually chill out and drop the attitude. She was confident about her abilities as a sage and her treatment of the swords that she figured eventually, with enough time and patience, both Tsuchi and Kaze would come to respect and love her.

“If I really wanted to, I could probably say a lot of nasty things about the ways of life of everyone’s old masters, but lucky for you I’m not that mean.” Yukina winked and playfully stuck out her tongue. “You’re such a jerk, Tsuki-kun~”

Tsuchimaru was planning on commenting on the things she was saying, but the fact that she keep saying his name wrong agitated him to the point where he lost his train of thought.

“The name’s Tsuchi as in Tsuchimaru not Tsuki. Stop jokingly saying it wrong. I don’t find it the slightest bit funny!” He gritted his teeth and got up onto his feet. To insult ones name is like insulting the person themselves. While he was generally respective of women, this one in particular was getting on his nerves. No wonder the one person that was said to be her own sword couldn’t stand her.

He turned around and faced the door, considering leaving the room. “You so much as insult my former Master or his way of life, I will never forgive you.”

Because his former master lived as a ronin partially due to not wanting to be tied down by rules and laws, Tsuchimaru has grown to be the same way.

That being said, he doesn’t like when others, especially the Saniwa, try and tell him what to do (with the exception of being sent on missions). So heads up for if he interacts with your muse and reacts in such a negative way.

“You’re fairly new here, so maybe you don’t know how much Japan has changed since your old master was alive,” Yukina suggested. She shrugged. 

“Basically, a lot of westernization happened after the Meiji Restoration. Nowadays Japan loves when westerners are interested in our culture, and western nations love the stuff we make here - especially media. And we, or at the very least I do, love western culture. And food. Especially food.”

The saniwa gave Tsuchimaru a big smile as she picked up a muffin. “I guess I’ll keep this one, then. I’d offer it to one of the other swords but it wouldn’t be fair for anyone other than me to have more than one, seeing as I paid for them.”

“You basically said it was popular in the west now suddenly it’s popular here? Make up your mind about which is true.” Tsuchimaru groaned. “Also, I may be new here, but that doesn’t mean I’m automatically going to go with the flow of how the culture is here. My former master’s way of life is dear to me and I’m not about to change just because the country has.”

He glared at the muffin she held. “Go ahead and stuff your face with that thing. It’s not like I care.”

“Just because it’s popular over there, doesn’t mean it needs to be all over the place here.” Tsuchimaru sighed. Fall was more about leaves falling from trees to him, not this pumpkin addicted hell she was in.

He eyed the pumpkin muffins in question. They didn’t seem very appealing to him and he was already agitated by her pumpkin addiction as is.

“I’ll pass.”
