The fairy flashed a smile in return, giving a nod as if to say ‘you’re welcome!’

“Do you mind if I ask, in that case, if this weapon is imbued with magic?  I think most weapons are, these days,” she brought a hand up to brush some hair behind her ear.  “Although, in saying that, lots of people are strong enough to survive without the use of magic at all.”

Her brow furrowed as she popped another berry into her mouth. The fact that the blonde was floating didn’t cause the girl much concern, if any at all. “From what I’m told there’s nothing worse than death.” 

“You haven’t heard from the right people.  There are lots of things that are worse than death,” she explained, still eyeing the berries with concern.  Elaine figured she had better stick around for a little bit, in case this woman did actually need help when the effect of these poisoned fruits kicked in.

“.. Especially when you haven’t been given a proper send off.  To wander the plains between life and death for eternity.. you don’t think that’s a terrible faith?”

She responds right away in a tone as if Elaine had asked her whether it was sunny outside instead of nosing into her homicide record. Casual.

       “That depends on who you consider to be a ‘lover.’“                             So, the short answer? Yes.

“O-oh!  I see!” She feels her mouth dry up for a moment, then quickly brushes her discomfort aside.  It’s not as if DEATH is anything NEW, these days.

“... Well.. I’m sure there was a perfectly good reason behind your decision..  Lover or otherwise.”

“ So pretty... ” The fairy’s eyes seemed to be glued to the scythe the other woman held by her back.  In her many years, she had seen various weapons and battle techniques.  Yet, she was always curious to learn more.  Elaine lifted her head after a moment, gaze meeting the other’s. “ Don’t you find that really heavy to carry?  You must be really strong. ”

“Uhhh,” She took a moment to swallow her mouthful. If she’s gonna die might as well do it on a full stomach. “Like, a one, maybe a two. But it’s always like that.”

She stares at the other woman, pushing her small body through the air to back up just a little.. she’s expecting the other to throw up at any moment, and she doesn’t want to be caught in the splash zone.

“ You shouldn’t make such reckless decisions just because things are already imperfect. That sort of foolishness can get you killed.. or worse. ”

  “I guess if you don’t get it. Your not a summon.” Hands behind his head, lollipop in mouth, he makes a shrugging gesture.  “Like if you were a summon, it means I get to summon you to help in stuff like some good old healing or tricks. I’m really lacking in that area.”

It would be useful to be well rounded, and not overly specialised. 

She isn’t sure if she should be insulted or embarrassed for the other’s ignorance.  Elaine placing her hands on her hips, shaking her head.

“ What is it with humans and their fairy stories?.. You think you can just make a little circle of stones on the ground and a clan of fairies will sprout up to bend to your every will? ”

Of course she was being stopped while her mouth was stuffed full of the small blue berries. “I feel fine.” She mumbled around her food. 

Too late to save this one.   Oh well.. it was a shame, though, to have such berries wasted on those who couldn’t even stomach them.  It was only a matter of time before this one would flop onto the ground like a dead fish.  Silly humans.

“ On a scale of 1 to 10, how blurry is your vision right now? ”

Why is it always the cute ones who were the weirdest. He wonders. Does he have some sort of weird invisible beauty mark that attracts only the weird but cute girls to him?

  “Ah…no. Are you …liable for a contract maybe? As a summon?” never hurts to ask. 

“ Contract? ”

The only time Elaine has ever heard that word being used was when she had to get rid of some bounty hunters in the forest.  She frowns, eyebrows furrowing.

“ If you mean a contract kill, I’d consider rethinking your intentions. ”

 “Woah! Your floating!” Did he accidentally eat some hallucination mushrooms along the way? He knew he shouldn’t have eaten it. Would he have to go all his life in a dream like state? What would become of him?

Well….

“ Only a little bit. ” She found it pretty amusing how little humans actually knew about races outside of their own-- especially the elusive fairies.  They were always stunned to see her small body rising off the ground with ease.  ... Stunned but.. sometimes they looked like they were about to pass out from shock.

“ ... Hey, are you all right?  You haven’t seen a fairy before? ”

“ Ah- careful!  I wouldn’t eat those if I were you! ” The fairy glided over quickly to the other’s side, waving her small hands in warning. “ Most human stomachs can’t handle those blue ones.  They’ll make you really sick. ”

I love all these blogs that make Elaine seem like this perfectly innocent flower child all kind and sweet but does anyone else remember the fact that she straight up attempted to MURDER Ban when she first met him? Merlin was always so beautiful in Elaine’s eyes, from the moment she’d laid eyes on the other woman.  She seemed a little scary sometimes, true... but Elaine was willing to give everyone a chance.  Though, she couldn’t help her own curiosity and assumptions.
