“No, that’s right. You don’t have to apologize or worry about being rude. I’m actually a bit flattered it takes people a bit to catch on.”

“I guess we’re not the smartest here in Telluride. Hm, I understand now, sounds hard to me, I suck with muscle memory. ”

“It’s okay; I really don’t mind explaining. Most people don’t think about muscle memory I just don’t have much else to go off of since I can’t pick up visual cues from my surroundings.”

“Ah – alright. So, do you, like, count footsteps, or?”

“Sort of. In the winter that’s easiest but sometimes during the months were I can wear flat shoes, I just count blocks. Like if you walk on the pavement, when it dips down to meet the street at a crosswalk you can tell it’s the end of a block. Counting crosswalks and sometimes sign posts are much easier than remembering step count. Sorry -- I’m rambling.”

Yes, I would assume that’s the same. I write my texts audibly but I can imagine that would be muscle memory for everyone who doesn’t.

“Little changes, I can handle, hopefully. No one seems to know what that is -- like you know how you could probably make your way around your home without looking if you really had to? That’s muscle memory.”
