another cool thing abt this ep is that everyone’s wardrobe was designed to reflect their personalities!! since normally its set in highschool w their uniforms, its the first time we get to see real visual representations of them all together ! eru (far left) is free-flowing, feminine n mature, which contrasts a lot w ibara (far right) who’s childish, but sweet. then oreki (mid right) is wearing sensible but more dull clothes, which speak for themself, esp besides satoshi (mid left) who’s casual, but bright n modern! i dig it

so there’s like a recurring theme in this show where they compare their own lives to different colours, oreki being grey bc his life is so lacklustre, satoshi being “shocking pink” n the average, youthful highschool life (and, i think, eru) being “rose-coloured,” n it’s important to me that satoshi makes a point of saying that oreki being grey doesn’t demean him. he’s basically telling him that while his life may not b as exciting as others’, while he may not b as happy or proactive, he’s not of lesser value than them. he’s not less than everyone else for being, well, depressed

for the sake of argument when oreki talks abt his "energy reserves" he basically means spoons. his neurodivergent ass doesn't have a lot of energy and, being 1) a kid n 2) undiagnosed he's interpreted his depression in an almost calculative, measurable way, solely to cope w it since nobody else rlly understands it, so he Needs to understand himself
