Oh, wow! Well, I have prosthetic fingers, and one day I wanna make my own pair that can do everything I want it to do! Could you help?

Of course I could, I'd even say growing body parts is something of a specialty of mine! My lovely daughter, here, Abe- oh, she's gone off somewhere, but I grew her from the DNA of fruits, hah. An arm shouldn't be anything too big after that.

…what? Oh, I’m okay with my fake fingers! I thought when you said you were an inventor, you meant, building and- what’s the DNA of fruits?

Well, I'm glad you asked! DNA is the tiny, tiny string of information held in the nucleus of most cells that stores information for the structure of whatever organism its in! It's in practically everything that's alive, and changing even one bit can change something major in the lifeform. Think of it like coding.

I agree, it is cool. Ig you're happy with what you have now, I'd suggest sticking to it. There's no need to upgrade if you're already at your best. Of course, that's up to you, but- aha.

[The cat looked up at vic and tilted its head]

“See my tail? And ears? Just like you!” Vic put the kitty in his lap.

[The cat made itself comfortable and headbutted vic's hand lightly to get more pets. Despite its uncaring attitude, it found the ears and tail nice]

Victor pet the cat all over, especially places he knew he liked being pet.

[The cat purred loudly and leaned into the pets. It might have found a new favorite person]

Vic was very happy with being the landing place for this cat, purring as well.

…I’m confused!

*Joan stares around the con, eyes wide at the sheer array of choice. She's standing near an empty stall, trying very hard not to be noticed. Her jumper and skirt are already inkstained, but she really doesn't seem to care.*

Unfortunately for Joan, noticing people who don’t want to be noticed is one of Vic’s strong suit! He popped up behind her, short and excited like the young boy he is. “Hi! What are you doing?”

[Joan's eyes shot open, and she jumped slightly.]

H-hi! I'm just.. looking around, to be honest. I.. don't really know.

[She stuck her hand out in a formal handshake.]

I'm Joan.

Vic tried not to seem disappointed she’d offered him her name before he could ask to take it, as he liked to do. But in a room full of avatars, maybe that’s a bad idea anyways! Vic smiled and shook her hand, his prosthetic, plastic fingers lightly grasping her hand. “Hi! You can call me Vic!” The smile showed his sharp teeth.

Hi Vic!

[Her head tilted, slightly unsettled, at how sharp his teeth were, but she shrugged it off. He didn't seem to mean her any harm, so it really didn't matter all that much!]

Nice to meet you.

“Nice to meet you too! You look sort of confused. Are you okay?”

I'm.. I'm ok, it's just..

[She fidgeted before deciding to just say it.]

This whole place feels.. off? Like.. some kind of- of danger. I.. I recognise it, sort of, from the- from the book, but it feels.. different. I don't know...

“Yeah, that’s kinda the point! It’s for all the people who make people feel bad to come together and not feel bad and show off!” Vic paused. “…are you…. Not an avatar?” He was just curious, not dangerous. Like a wild animal coming up to a human.

What's an.. "Avatar"? I'm not.. I'm not that.

[She blinked.]

“Woah!” Vic’s eyes widened and he smiled. He was, very much, a kid. “How did you even get in here when you don’t know what an avatar is? Did you sneak in?”

I snuck in, yeah! So.. what is an avatar, then?

[She looked at him with barely disguised interest.]

“Basically, there are different fears that all people and animals feel, fourteen of them, and these fears are alive and feed off fear of themselves, so they make or give people like me and most other people here some sort of way to make people feel the fear they are working for!”

Ohhh! So that's what the spider book was. So.. huh. That's... Interesting.

[She cocked her head, clearly thinking hard.]

But doesn't that hurt people?

“Um… sometimes? Sometimes yeah!”

...huh. Ok.

[Joan's hands twitched at her side.]

Well, my dadi says I'm evil and I hurt people because I lie, so.... maybe it's not that bad?

“Your dad sounds very mean. Maybe you can share my aba and my mom with me and my sisters!”

My dadi, silly, not my dad! My grandma. And she's.. kinda mean, I guess, but she cares about me, so.. thank you though!

[Almost impulsively, she threw her arms around him in a hug.]

I've never had a friend before!

“Oh! Sorry,” Vic didn’t have any grandparents, so he didn’t realize there were different names for them like there were for parents. “You haven’t! I’ll be your friend!”

[She pulled back from the hug after a second, grinning widely.]

Yay! My first friend!

Vic liked hugs, he even purred a little before Joan pulled away. “Yay!”

[She stared at him when he purred.]

Did you just make a cat sound?

“Oh, yeah! I’m a cat!”

Woahhhh.

[Slowly, she reached out and scratched his head.]

Vic’s stuffed cat ears flattened against his head as he purred.

[She cooed and gasped.]

Oh my gosh, that's so cute!!

[She scratched his ears softly.]

Vic leaned against Joan a little as he purred, a smile on his face. “Mmm… that feels good…”

[She wrapped her arm around his side and pulled him to the floor so the two of them were sitting next to each other.]

Awww.

Vic let Joan move him around and, when they were sitting, rubbed his head against Joan’s arm as a plea for more pets.

[She continued petting him softly, eyes fond.]

Vic leaned his head against Joan, purring like a motor as his own eyes closed.

[She giggled slightly at him.]

Vic giggled too.

[She stuck her tongue out at him teasingly.]

[She ruffled his hair.]
