"Who cares? I don’t. I wouldn’t even care if you were Obama’s wife."
"Maybe you should. Staff have more power around here than you do."
"There’s not much I can explain, but sure. I’ve only been here for a little over a week, so… don’t be too reliant on what I say, okay?"
"Well, you've been here longer than me. Plus, if you know where the refectory is, you're already more knowledgeable. And sure, I'll try."
"Well, this certainly isn’t the first shift I hoped for. Can anybody show me where the refectory is?”
"Sure, but I can’t promise you’ll enjoy yourself. New to the staff, I’m guessing?"
"It is a job, so my expectations weren't really to enjoy myself, but thank you. And yes, it is. Maybe you could explain this place on the way there?"
"It’s- it’s my first day. B-besides, how am I supposed to know when a crazy person is being sarcastic?"
"Rule number one— you never call a crazy person a crazy person. Got it, sweetheart?”
"E-excuse you. I am a staff member. You can't speak to me this way."
"Shit."
"Tell me about it."
"And I’d hardly call you clever since I was being sarcastic. Well aren’t you supposed to tell me where I’m supposed to be? God- can’t even believe you’re getting paid for this.”
"It's- it's my first day. B-besides, how am I supposed to know when a crazy person is being sarcastic?"
" What just happened?”
"P-power is out, everyone had to head to the refectory until we can get it working again... would you like to walk with me?"
“Then how do you plan on getting to the refectory?”
She shrugged, lighting the cigarette that hung between her lips as she sat on one of the benches. “I don’t.” She muttered, watching the women with a look of distrust.
"But- but you have to go..." she began hopelessly, unsure of how to handle a situation like this. She wasn't scared but her nerves sure were taking a toll on her.
"Well, this certainly isn’t the first shift I hoped for. Can anybody show me where the refectory is?”
"Well welcome to Wonderland, little ship."
Rose's eyebrow raised. "I- I'd hardly call this place Wonderland... But can you help me find where we're supposed to be?"
"Well, this certainly isn’t the first shift I hoped for. Can anybody show me where the refectory is?”
“‘fraid I don’t know.”
"Then how do you plan on getting to the refectory?"
"Well, this certainly isn’t the first shift I hoped for. Can anybody show me where the refectory is?”
"Wasn’t my ideal first day. This place is probably hard enough to get around in a wheelchair without the lights be down."
"Well, do you know where the refectory is?"
"Well, this certainly isn’t the first shift I hoped for. Can anybody show me where the refectory is?”
"I’ll help, come little one. Just be careful with the patients."
"Thank you. I-I'll try. Is there any news on when the electricity will be back?"
"Well, this certainly isn't the first shift I hoped for. Can anybody show me where the refectory is?"
