i am absolutely haunted by this scene in the cinema

THAT'S WHY I decided to think like a director and draw a storyboard. after thinking about it, i realized that there were at least 6 scenes here (29A, 29B, 29C and the other). so, i drew how this cinema scene could look in theory. i apologize in advance for the ugly drawings and possibly crooked handwriting 🙏🏻

(i couldn't do anything about the quality so the text is hard to read in some places, sorry for that)

well, i'll write briefly what we're talking about. the first frame (29A) is just a general plan, an overview of the cinema. there you can see people sitting, starting from left to right are goebbels, francesca, her dog, hans, dieter and fredrick. the next frame is 29B, it shows francesca and goebbels who are whispering about something. then there is a frame with hans and dieter, well we have him from the bloopers

the next frames (29D and 29E) are with fredrick. he is sitting alone (poor guy) and turns around. after him there are more frames with hans and dieter, we also have one of them (29F)

copy and pasting this from a pinterest thread i commented on but i want to complain about people who claim landa ‘isnt ideologically’ a nazi or doesnt share their racial ideology. because there is absolutely no evidence to support this and in fact more evidence to the contrary.

If you pay attention to his medals ^ in the restaurant scene, you will notice he has a Blood Order medal (circled for your convenience). This was only awarded to members who;

1. joined prior to 1932 and participated in the putsch of 1923

2. joined before 1933 or faced prison time for party membership before 1933

3. (exclusive to the austrian nazi party) participated in the putsch of 1934, or faced prison time for nazi activity.

Keep in mind that austria outlawed nazism and banned the nazi party in 1933. Whether landa earned the blood order for his actions in 1923 or in the 1930s, it was not socially advantageous in any way to be a Nazi (when they did not have any power yet). There is no reason I can see for him to do this if he didn’t believe in Nazi racial ideology at least a little.

About his speech in the opening scene, I don’t think this is as solid of an implication as people say because he is still comparing Jews to animals: the only difference is to him its a predator/prey dynamic, when to the other Nazis its a human/pest dynamic. Or if you look at what he says to Aldo & Utivich, claiming he doesn’t like being called the Jew Hunter (contrary to what he says in the opening scene), the whole scene is him trying to water down his involvement in the regime and seem like a normal man ‘just following orders’.
