I'd like to remind everybody that this isn't just about A03 or civil rights organizations. This could be applied to any 501 organization. That includes churches, schools, museums and library support organizations. All sorts of support organizations like soup kitchens or places like goodwill. Those are all non-profit organizations and they all have a 501 status. This is a threat to every civil organization we have that is meant to help the public.
So please contact your representatives. Please look this up on Twitter and click the link so you can call your representatives and voice against this. Because there's a hell of a lot more at stake with a bill like this than just ao3. People's lives could be at risk.
The House will vote THIS WEEK to determine whether the incoming Trump administration will have the power to shut down non-profit organizations with no due process.
Congress has already tried to fast-track this legislation once and failed because of the onslaught of calls to their offices. We canât let them do this quietly. Congress giving Trump the power to crush dissent and target organizations fighting for justice is a betrayal. Tell your representatives to vote NO on this dangerous bill!
this is kind of nonsensical and weird so just take it with a grain of salt. i was trying to get into the flow for another fic and i kept LOSING the flow so now its this:
âA fresh start.â
Goldie lifted her head from the pillow and turned to stare at Scrooge, confused by his echoing of her words earlier in the day. She didnât respond, waiting to see what he would say next.
He was staring up at the ceiling, hands laying on his abdomen. He sighed gently. âWhy a fresh start?â
â...you know why,â she said quietly, not understanding why they were having this conversation suddenly after an hour of solitude together.
Scrooge glanced over at her, but didnât turn his head. He tapped his fingers against the comforter. â...I donât want a fresh start with you, Goldie.â
She almost felt like laughing, the way his unexpected statement slapped her across the face. Instead she just stared at him. âAlright. Well. Thanks for that, I guess.â
Before she could make assumptions about what he meant, Scrooge rolled over and wrapped an arm around her waist, tugging her closer to him. All the movement let cold air under the blanket and Goldie shivered, placing her hands against his chest. âWe donât need a fresh start. We just need to move forward.â
She blinked twice, embarrassed at the eye contact heâd forced her into, and turned her gaze away. âIf only it were that easy.â
âI canât just forget everything youâve done,â Scrooge mumbled, rolling them a little more so he was on top of her and her head was sinking into the pillows. âAnd you certainly havenât forgotten everything Iâve done.â
Goldie moved one of her hands to his whiskers, combing through the feathers with her fingers. âExactly my point.â
âBut I donât care, dear,â Scrooge said as he leaned closer, his beak just a breath from hers. âI donât want to focus on any of that.â
She felt his hand dig into her hair and tried not to enjoy his attention too much. âYou say that now, but you know coming back for you one time doesnât mean Iâll change. I wonât stop being me.â
âI fell for you because youâre you, Goldie.â
Her cheeks had a tinge of pink that Goldie hoped Scrooge wouldnât notice in the dark hotel room. But her heart was beating so loud, surely he could hear it. âWell...maybe you shouldnât have.â
Scrooge scoffed and leaned back a bit. âWhatâs that supposed to mean?â
Goldie shrugged, her heartbeat still not back to normal.
âYou donât want me to be in love with you?â he asked more aggressively, sitting up straight and pushing the blanket back.
Goldie felt a cold chill as she followed him and sat up, ignoring the fact that he was straddling her during this stupid conversation. âItâs not about what I want!â she said just as aggressively back, poking her finger into his naked chest. âItâs about how youâre being idealistic âcause we had a nice time but in a few days youâll be glad Iâm gone just like always.â
Scrooge huffed and rolled his eyes. âAfter everything you said to me today, this is how youâre acting now?â
âAm I wrong?â
âYes!â Scrooge threw his hands into the air in frustration. âYouâre wrong, OâGilt! Just because I donât make sudden declarations of love doesnât mean I donât genuinely want to be with you, you presumptuous, paranoid -â
â...stop, Scrooge.â
He did as she said and looked down to see Goldie staring up at him, her green eyes shining and a visible blush on her cheeks. Scrooge slumped down and grabbed her hands in his.
She spoke before he could. âI donât...I donât doubt that you want to be with me, alright?â She sighed. âI just think itâd be easier to try and start over instead of trying to build off of what we have. Thatâs all.â
âAre you saying you regret everything?â Scrooge asked sadly, rubbing his thumbs over her knuckles.
Goldie laughed. âNo, not for a second. But...you do.â
âGoldie-â
âI know you do,â she said softly, still not looking at him. âSo donât call me paranoid when we both know Iâm right.â
Scrooge sighed again, frustrated. Theyâd had an interesting day followed by a lovely night and she was trying to ruin it like she always did by trying to push him away. He didnât know how to prove she was wrong when she was always so sure of herself. She never liked to listen to him.
He leaned forward and pressed his beak against hers, earning a shocked sound for a brief moment before she started kissing back. Scrooge leaned harder and pushed her back down onto the bed, one hand moving to the side of her neck while the other was propped against the mattress next to her head.
Goldie hummed underneath him and Scrooge moved to press kisses against the side of her beak and then her cheek and temple. He blew warm air against her feathers. âI could never regret you,â he mumbled between kisses before moving back to her beak. He didnât give her a chance to talk back because he simply didnât want to hear it. Maybe he couldnât convince her that she was wrong, but he could still try to move them forward. He wanted her to be a part of his family more than anything, and heâd fight for that.
Goldie wrapped her hands around his shoulders and pulled him closer as they kissed - glad that their conversation was over. She didnât know why he started it or where he wanted to take it, but she knew she was much more comfortable under him than she was trying to get him to understand her point of view.
She wanted to be with him, she always did, but if they couldn't start over, then everything she'd done could still bite her in the ass and she might not be able to fix it. Even if she wanted more, it would be safer for her to leave before the morning, just like always.
