What are ur thoughts on an Heir of Mind, power and personality wise? Im writing/fleshing out one right now and want to hear your thoughts because you're genuinely the best classpecting work I've seen!!
I think sway will play a pretty big part here since heir is so passive and mind is one of a handful of aspects I'd consider calling active (time and space are the only ones i'd say are genuinely active and passive, but mind and heart are pretty coded that way too. but that's a whole ramble I could go on)
in general though I'd expect someone who naturally gravitates towards the rational, not as a way of pushing down volatile emotion, but because they aren't the kind of person to fall prey to their emotions in the first place
telekinesis is a solid starting point for powers i think. very fundamental "using mind to act upon something and enact an effect."

that's a question with a complicated answer. i usually simplify it to seer of light -> maid of time but if you count the time before I started this blog (which is when I started taking classpecting seriously) and some other stuff then there's like... 30 of them lol. the first i ever went with what knight of doom, way way back.
can u agree with me that princes arent too dangerous (i mean i guess they kind of are without proper care) i keep arguing with my friend that my classpect (Prince of Light) isnt too much of a trouble hmmmm ok maybe a bit but not THAT much its just that my friend says that they wouldnt make a session with me if they could >:(
Every single classpect has the potential to do untold evils, and I'd probably go so far as to say that none are even remotely more likely to than others.
I am losing my mind over what Life and Doom actually mean in and I am calling upon you to fix this. The way I've always viewed it is that Doom is stagnation and order, whilst Life is progress (and therfore change) and chaos, however Life is also if not moreso the sustaining of living, whilst Doom is also literally entropy. But like, when I think of stagnation as a concept, I think of a lack of doing. A lack of doing can't be Life because Life is progress and improvement and therefore change and movement which literally isn't stagnation, but then Doom is rules and order and being solid but it's also decay and the change over time (even if that in specific is literally a Time thing). There's probably something wrong with my thinking process (I feel like I'm being a little too solid over what these aspects can mean when in reality they can manifest in many ways) but I am so In The Shit that I can barely even tell what the two aspects mean outside of the whole stagnation thing and I need someone to get me out please help.
in very simple terms, life is number go up and doom is number go down. a flower rises from the dirt and blooms and thrives and then it wilts and dies and becomes fuel for the next flower, forever and ever. when life is given more sway you end up with weeds, and when doom is given more sway you end up with mushrooms.
mushrooms are a result of stagnation, but are not stagnation themselves. so the decay (which is alive in its own right) is the consequence of the stagnation (the strict rules and order), but neither can stake entire claim on what doom is.
decay and weeds will both spread, but the spreading is the point of Life whereas it's just a consequence of Doom (which. is consequences also).

Your Blood and The Apocalypse post is really cool, but I do have some questions about it. Can blood players (outside of knight of blood) be beneficial to their session despite these setbacks? Because it feels like they're either ineffective or outright detrimental at worse due to SBURB's conditions.
thank you! my thoughts have changed a bit since then, to the point that I might even go so far as to say that you need a Blood player if you want a happy ending, even if they're put at a disadvantage. SBURB is a horribleterrible game that does not care about anything other than its own propagation, and I can imagine a lot of sessions ending up the way of the Epilogues, albeit presumably less extreme.
most importantly, I think literally every classpect can be of value. I think maaaaybe there are some that are more commonly of value to a session than others, but I don't know.

oh fuuuuck what are dirk and rose doing there? well, it’s a 10 player session right, so i was thinking…… what if they enter guardianways like freaks to fill in those last roles………. idfk. i don't really see prince, seer, heart, or light in any of the rest of these, and idk why else we'd be missing two classes and aspects, so i'm running with this idea.
now i'm going to spend a very long time explaining each of these. with pictures and quotes and stuff.
vrissy: derse thief of breath
Vrissy's willingness to give up her own name should be understood as her grasping at individuality after a lifetime of living in the shadow of Vriska. This could be representative of a few different aspects, in particular I read her as a Thief of Void for a long time, but I've come to see this as an act of Breath thievery.
Now, some people have looked at Vrissy's mind control stuff and seen it as a Mindy act, which is fair enough! But it can also be seen as stealing the freedom from people. What's more interesting to me is the fact that Vrissy chooses to escape prison in her own way. She doesn't want the "freedom" that Vriska is offering, as it keeps her locked down as just "the fake Vriska." She wants to carve her own path, get some well-deserved clout.
On page 696 we see some Vrissy Thief-isms shining through her inability to grapple with the fact that someone she views as so lame and worse than her is showing her up. Tavvy and her relationship is a very interesting one, as a Thief of Breath and Sylph of Rage they sort of end up in this dynamic of Vrissy thinking she has full control over Tavvy and he kind of goes along with it, so when things like this happen that show he’s still going to make his own decisions and be his own person she gets pissed. How dare this loser one up her, she’s thinking, because she’s supposed to be the cool rebellious one who sneaks out all the time. She values how people think about her and her clout quite a bit, carving that freedom out for herself is sure something she wants to do, and she needs everyone to see her do it.
"Clout" is a really funny but poignant part of this whole thing. Rufioh, Rogue of Breath, is sooo cool. Everyone thinks he's so cool. Vrissy wants this as well, to be the talk of the town. This comes up a bit in some of the later sections, but I wanted to point it out here.
harry: derse bard of space
Space is the aspect of possibilities, and the very first thing we see Harry do in Homestuck^2 is keep those around him from considering them. I marked this boy as a Bard back when the clowncident first happened, but only in the context of some later stuff did I identify what aspect it was he was destroying. For a while I had him as Blood or Breath, but what he's ultimately doing here is forcing some direct action at the cost of considering better alternatives.
Some pretty damning evidence to me is that Harry is absent in his own intro. There is a complete lack of the introduced character's presence here for the first time in the history of Homestuck. The intro itself has some interesting points. His lofty aspirations are alluded to her and can be seen in a number of other places, and it speaks to some Derse-isms I think. So does this little scarf he wears later on.
Bards are not very driven to do stuff, they're extremely Passive, but Harry has this itching feeling that he should do something. But this just amounts to him changing some accessories and then plopping his ass down in the park to wait for his girlfriend. Don't get me wrong, Space is very tied to fashion, but it's not quite the Big Event he seemed to be building up to. I also think it's interesting how often Breathy terms are thrown around, like when he discards his satchel. Perhaps the long-term effects of dating a Thief of Breath?
I think this is another really important moment for him. Needles of course are Rose's weapon of choice, but they're also what Echidna gives to Space players when people want initiate a scratch. The needles being too small is also... maybe a thing...? Space regards the size of stuff, and so him disregarding needlekind because the needles are too small is kinda funny, idfk.
Another thing I want to point to is just his general disapproval of his "dad's" jammies. He doesn't actually really do anything about this, just disparages the fit a bit and then gets upset when it sticks around, but like... whatever, lol. Maybe one day he'll help June pick out some fancy clothes. That'd be cute.
Anyways, to address a potential elephant in the room, Derse and Space have so far not gone together. We have four Space players, all of them Prospit, and usually early dreamers. Time and Derse are similarly linked. However, the presumable Time player is confirmed to be Prospit already, so it makes sense that they'd double dip this subversion and give us a Derse Space player.
tavvy: prospit sylph of rage
What's this...? Rage, Tavvy? But he's so demure and Tavrospilled, how can this be? One of the core parts of being a Sylph is a level of separation from their aspect. Witches more aggressively make sure their aspect has as little control over them as possible, but Sylphs also aim to keep it in check. Tavvy is extremely disillusioned, spouting off extremely in depth political opinions as early as the age of 5 (this is in the epilogues so i can't link it at time of posting), and in the picture above we see very clearly that he often minimizes his emotions by just calling them fear. He pushes it all down here to Help His Friends, the ol Sylphy way.
A bit later we have him in the closet coming to terms with the cold hard reality they're in. No more pushing stuff down, this is where they're at and they have to deal with it. After a lifetime of Gamzee Barding his Rage, he's slowly coming to grips with it. Shit is fucked and just hoping your problems will go away is not a valid solution.
Now okay, this is a bit silly, but I couldn't not point this out. Look, they said the word! Rage! No way.
Anyways, look at this. Tavvy does this a lot. Practically half of his dialogue is him asking people if they want to talk about their problems. It's the Sylphy thing!
Page 194 has probably the best example of Tavvy doing the Sylphy thing. Vrissy is all caught up in her Breathy clout bullshit, and Tavvy wants to get to the heart of the issue. There is clearly something very real bothering her that she's refusing to engage with. He's certain of it, and he's certain he can help if she'd just let him in.
We see this again in his talk with Yiffy, trying (but failing) to get her to talk to him, to sort literally any of her shit out. He understands how fucked her situation is, he understands she deserves a helping hand, why won't she just let him in? The fact he hasn't in the past can once again be seen as a pretty clear example of what Gamzee's influence was doing to him. Only now does he feel empowered to do literally anything. And he does just a bit later in 8r8k, albeit not in the way he expected.
Lastly I want to point to the note he writes Vrissy and Harry. It's another really good example of him refusing to pull his punches. He's a very blunt speaker, despite his demeanor. He wants what's best for his friends and he isn't going to beat around the bush. They need to hear these things.
yiffy: prospit mage of blood
If I were to boil down my argument for Mage of Blood with one image, it'd be this. This is what it looks like to live in a world which so thoroughly lacks in Blood. Many years ago, right before the Epilogues came out, I talked about how SBURB puts Blood players at a bit of a disadvantage. The Epilogues proceeded to elaborate on my thoughts in far more interesting ways than I could've imagined, showing just how critical the lack of community responsibility was to the worsening of basically every character in Homestuck.
Yiffy is a product of a Witch of Space desperately reaching for any reprieve from her forced isolation. Just as an aside, this whole conversation is probably my favorite part of all of Homestuck so far, honestly, and Jade's part is really fucking sad. Anyways, so Yiffy gets born in an attempt for Jade to have some solid Blood in her life after decades of loose ties, but circumstances are such that Yiffy...
Well, Yiffy gets sent to Hitler Boarding School and is kept a secret from the world. She got the short end of the stick in so many ways, because Jade had a responsibility to keep her safe from the people who might harm her like she'd been harmed. She lives an isolated life, much like all Mages do, even if they still have their connections.
This picture makes me fucking cry lmfao.
ANYWAYS so Yiffy fucking understands really god damn well how useless the adults are, how garbage every authority is. You could call her a Rage player, and maybe she will end up swapping aspects with Tavvy, idk, but that quote about True Kindness is so god damn Bloody.
Anyways, so here's her being mega embarrassed by her love for her moms. She's got that Mage's begrudging acceptance, like yes of course she loves them but also they suck and this whole thing is stupid! I also think it's noteworthy how she's worried about her "cred," similar to Vrissy, but for her it's not about random people on the internet, it's about the respect of the friends she's made at school. The scraps of good Blood she's managed to hold onto.
Perhaps it's a meaningless parallel, but when I see this I can't help but think of the Signless, a Seer of Blood, most well known for saying fuck and dying. Hundreds of pages of silence, broken just for this one moment. Hmmmm...
ly'lac: derse maid of doom
Ly'lac is probably the most obvious Doom player that could ever exist. It's honestly kind of crazy how much Doom they're throwing at us. I won't be focusing on that side of things as much because of how blatant it is, so allow me to make my case for Maid.
You ever been cursed? I haven't, personally, but Ly'lac has. Sollux plays around with curses quite a bit, but Ly'lac doesn't really get a choice in the matter, having been cursed from birth. Maids have a lot of their aspect pushed on them, inheriting similarly to Heirs, but it comes with more direct responsibilities.
Ly'lac does not like these responsibilities. She shirks her chores, and moreover the idea of having power over another is not really something she wants as a Passive Doom player. However, Maids must take on some level of authority, they have to make decisions regarding their aspect that others aren't in a position to make.
Another birthright she acquires is her new LEGENDARY WAND, a delightful little gift from her friend AA. This wand does some rather Doomy things and blah blah blah but like. What matters is she has been given just a ridiculous amount of Doomy tools and Doomy responsibilities, and I think we're going to see a whole lot more down the line.
swiss: prospit page of mind
When I first laid eyes on Swiss, I wasn't really sure what to make of him. Mostly I just kept thinking that I hate Dirk Strider and he needs to be killed. Then, a friend suggested that Swiss might be a Mind player, and I found that very compelling as the upd8s reinforced that idea more and more. Eventually, after a lot of playing around with possible classes, I realized that this little Satyr reeks of Page.
But first, let's address the Mind thing. A lot of people have him set in stone as a Life player because of the apiculture stuff, but I think it's worth noting two things. One, apiculture is just highly praised in this society, so it's not necessarily remarkable that Swiss has taken a liking to it. Two, Swiss seems very enamored specifically with the way a hivemind works. The idea of an entire society following the same logic is like a Page of Mind's wet dream; there's no bullshit, no personal opinions getting in the way, it's all just productive sensible work towards a common goal.
We have two other very big pieces of evidence to point to. The first is his tag, agamemnonsTheory. Besides the obvious soyjack pointing at the word "theory," we have Agamemnon, who my brief wikipedia excursion says has a name that could mean "very mindful." That's the name of the aspect! :0
The second thing I want to point out is his symbol.
This is the equilibrium symbol, tied to ideas of justice and other Terezi stuffs. It's Mindy! It's the Mind thing! Whoaaa... There's honestly just so much I could point to, like The Plan. But I think you get the idea. With Pagey stuff, I've already mentioned his idealization of very simple and straightforward manifestations of logic, like with the bees, but we have some other stuff too. He's extremely overconfident and jumps to conclusions a fair bit just in what we've seen so far.
But honestly, these characters have a lot less really tangible stuff for me to point to at this point, so...
aa: prospit rogue of time
Our good friend auguryAside is either a Time player, or an extremely elaborate setup for some crazy subversion. I'm going to start by pointing out her symbol is an hourglass.
Like, I mean, come on. What do you want me to say about this?
Beyond this, there's just like... soooo much stuff about Time and needing Ly'lac to do things quickly and blah blah blah. It's really blatant and I would feel kind of like I'm patronizing you if I were to harp on every single instance of it.
Where things get more controversial is my class choice of Rogue. When I first saw AA I had the same assumption I think a lot of people had, that we were looking at a Mage. I mean, come on, she has this whole wizard gimmick and everything. But then I got convinced of Mage Yiffy, and I had to take a deeper look.
AA is like an oracle, except she's not an oracle. She's some other shit. What character do we know with strong ties to Rose Lalonde who loves wizards? Roxy! There's also a lot of similar information-laundering in early Act 6 as there is with AA's "sources."
On that page we also have, more blatantly, AA stealing stuff to give to Ly'lac. The thing being stolen in specific is a death wand, and death of course is connective tissue between Time and Doom. I also find it really funny that on the next page AA wrote "I created nothing; credit to the makers." on her note, absolutely disregarding the crafters of this work of art and just sort of vaguely gesturing at them and saying they deserve the credit. It's very silly as a way of disregarding creation, like a Time player might do.
Anyways, now we're at the whole "Prospit Time player" thing. We know AA is a Prospit dreamer, and Time is almost certain, so... You know, the stuff with Harry earlier. Thumbs up.

cloisteredConnoisewer is a name which sort of vaguely points to Witch, I guess. Honestly, at this point it's a bit of just filling in the blanks. But I think it's worth noting how much CC likes shipping completely incomprehensible bullshit.
CC also really likes horses, clearly, and in fact even pretends to be one. Horses are almost as synonymous with Void as clowns are with Rage, so that's genuinely kind of huge. Maybe it'd be the biggest piece of evidence, except...
This nerd is literally constantly in shadow. We have seen so many glimpses and all of them are completely obscured, NO one can get a good look at them. Super Voidcore. Also just like the uncertain gender and the Satyrfaking, it's like waow.
Now, their symbol is the Wawa Aba symbol, which represents enduring hardships and stuff. Witches are constantly fighting for their agency, and so like... I don't know. There's really not a huge amount I can point to for Witch, but it makes enough sense with everything we've seen and the vibes seem right. Also cool scythe.

tinnitusChakra wants to vibe, but vibe productively. Always growing, but like in a chill way.
Thinks it'd be really cool if Ly'lac upgraded her pc, but since she won't he might as well make it as good as it can be. This goes for the people around him as well, always just kind of nudging at people being better than they currently are.
Here's when shit gets kind of insane. Most of my evidence has nothing to do with how he acts. I can't really say why he has the null symbol, it doesn't really make sense to me, but maybe there's some symbolism there. But I can talk about the session as a whole.
Let's talk ~PTH. Our little horsey boy worked with Ly'lac to really grasp at the ~PTH book to develop the game, which ties back to Sollux using the ~ATH stuff to interact with the game as well. It's also worth noting that Heir is the pair to Maid, and Life to Doom, which would make their cooperation here really interesting!
What really makes their prospective pairing-parallels interesting to me though is the image I've been pulling all the symbols from thus far.
Why do Ly'lac and TC get the big screens? Well, I think there's a few things that could be at play here. One, Ly'lac is in contact with at least one of the Candy Derse dreamers, and we know TC has some "last-minute newcomers" which I think could maybe be the Candy Prospit dreamers! That'd be neat.
But also, Rose has very clearly build Nymph society around very Doomy themes of curses and calamity, and Dirk around very Lifey themes of nature and... A/B/O. The latter will be relevant in the next section...... We need to kill Dirk Strider.
Anyways, so maybe they're there because they're our Doom and Life players, representing the two societies? I don't know.
Also I mean, hey, maybe the null symbol thing is just like something he needs to overcome, like there's no Life there and he's gotta Heir it and whatever. I don't know. Whatever.

Swiss is jumping to conclusions assuming that CC is some "30 LAP SKEEZE" and CT, having just as little evidence as Swiss does, is fully defending them because that's his friend!! Logic and suspicion mean nothing in the face of a Knight of Hope! He also just provides some very strong good vibes for Swiss and like idk. Hopey stuff.
The wisdom knot symbol is interesting! Obvious ties to wisdom, sure, but also given their A/B/O society... knotting? I hate this i hate this I hate this fuck you dirk strider. Is THE MOUNTAIN defending the beliefs of this society? I'm going to kill dirk strIDER AA AAHGHGH.
aaaand that's my fucking post. holy shit. do i think all of these are correct? probably not! i'll be adding addendums as we get new information, and even now i have some room open for some alternatives. there's a lot of possibilities. but. with help of my SQUAD. my COUNCIL of classpecty friends. we've settled on this current arrangement for now.

Do you have to have an insecurity to or a mask to be classed as a Knight or not? Or can you be a genuine person and still get classed as a Knight?

I don't think you necessarily have to have any of the common traits of a class to be that class, stuff just tends to manifest in certain ways, but there's no hard rules with personality
especially as you get older a lot of those common traits become a lot more variable, as you figure out who you are and become comfortable in that
if you think knight fits and that's the only barrier, i say lock it in
but if he were to actually somehow exit and then re-enter the game through traditional means...
muse of lord of time...? lol. i really don't know. he's too far beyond the scope of people who get classpected, he's a whole different kind of thing altogether
is there a way for you to make a quiz for the aspects? i love how concise and intelligent ur questions are.
aspects are a lot harder to make a good quiz for, I think. and I'm on record as thinking quizzes in general are kind of impossible to make "good," even if i'm sometimes compelled to try again...
classes at least are easier to put into tangible words for people, but aspects can really be represented in so many different ways. when I say "Time is about decisive action," am I going to sway a Knight of Mind away from what actually fits them?
all of this to say I'll probably eventually make a real aspect quiz just because of the evil compulsions in me, but I'll always tell anyone who takes it to just go read my guide instead lol

I always think about how close Breath and Void are. They’re both very free and kind of nothing, if that makes sense? You can’t really nail either of them down, which is very much apparent in the comic with John, heir of breath, turning into * wind* (which is close to nothing), and Equius, Heir of Void *being* nothing to a sense.
What are your thoughts on their similarities? Or, any thoughts at all?
(Am I asking this because I myself am stuck between classpecting myself Heir of Void/Breath? Maybe. XD)

I'm not very good at the actual "classpecting other people" thing, funnily enough, but I believe in you, and remember that it's okay to be unsure for a while. It's easy to want to know the answers right now, but that uncertainty is expected with something like this. Especially with the classpects you're considering, lol.

powers-wise I've been thinking about thief of time and thief of doom lately. i keep imagining a thief of time visually doing something like melee zer0 from borderlands 2. and a thief of doom who steals the rules of the game to kill without a just/heroic check but in doing so ensures their own death will be just... lot of fun ideas there.
as far as a character is concerned I think just about any could be interesting, but i'm partial to maids for reasons indiscernible by even the wisest of mages.
i don't think i could come up with a single "bad classpect" really... I mean I always say there are no bad classpects, but I've never really thought about it... and i don't think i'll be starting today! lol
