Want to see how Steven would react to Diamond Spinel?

Steven would know something is off. Spinel snaps a bit too quickly, and he would definitely find it odd that Spinel is defensive about the Diamond’s decision to have her wear Pink’s garbs. Almost like she didn’t want to get the Diamonds to be in any sort of trouble with Steven.

Steven would try to get her to open up to him more but Spinel would be extremely dismissive, changing the subject quickly about him instead, or she gets him to play games with her whenever he visits. Steven obviously would fall for it, but it’s only a matter a time until he starts finding out what’s truly going on.

TL;DR

Steven becomes a protective older brother when he realizes something doesn’t seem right with Spinel :D

So here’s that little scenario where the Diamonds locked Spinel in the prison tower alone. There isn’t really a second of the day where Spinel is alone, being hyper dependent on the Diamonds. I like to think that Blue is the softer one so she is more hesitant punishing Spinel for bad behavior, with Yellow being the more of authorative and more strict figure, and for White well… let’s just say she means well in a bad way. Spinel will always be with at least one of the diamonds though, even if what they’re doing happens to be super boring.

So what if the Diamonds compare Spinel to Pink so much, but like I take that idea and crank it where Spinel is just so scared to be alone again, she just gave in to them, letting them dress her up like Pink, maybe even sometimes they have a slip up by accidentally calling her “Pink”? Maybe at times it would just be too much for her…at least she’s still cute right?

Sometimes it’s a bit too much though and kinda weirds her out that he’s being so nice to her when she initially thought that he didn’t even want her around in the first place. He worries a lot about her so he keeps a close eye on her when he visits homeworld.

“Talking”

I remember getting a bunch of asks about what did Spinel do to get locked up in the tower by the Diamond, and I mentioned that it was because she talked back to one of the Diamonds. And then I realized I wasn’t satisfied just explaining the scenario alone in text so here’s a comic of it instead lol So in a time line, this would have happened and then “Time Out” would be the follow up after this.

I like to think that Blue had never been able to make Spinel cry like she did with Pink, simply because Spinel had been through so much trauma, just like how Lapis wasn’t affected by Blue’s aura of grief because of her own pain.

In theory, if Lapis’s grief wasn’t great enough to force her to change form, then I can’t imagine how much worse the trauma and sadness had to be for any gem in general to force themselves to poof back into their gems, just like Spinel had to go through. It’s just a theory though ;)

ok, it's official, big bro steven is officially my favorite steven/spinel relationship, hands down (you wouldn't happen to have any more would you?) and also, the diamonds better watch out because steven is gonna have some choice words for them about this situation once the truth comes out...

Oh hoooo you bet..but it’s gonna take awhile for him to find out since he doesn’t like to pressure her into saying anything she doesn’t feel comfortable, especially if it’s about the Diamonds. She gets pretty antsy whenever he brings it up. Steven does think about if maybe he shouldn’t pry, but he hates watching her be so anxious around him like she’s almost scared of him without him even knowing what he did wrong. Guess he’ll have to do his own investigation won’t he now?…

Okay but like what if Spinel drops her whole ‘I’m always happy’ act just for a split second and Steven caught her??? Or would Steven have always known about her putting on a face and when he confronts her about it and she gets defensive about it like “HAAAAA WHATTYA MEAN STEVIE”???? (I’m highly invested in this au jfc)
