My summer this year be like :

Don't try to be beautiful.
It's like asking the moon to be the sun.
You were already born with smoke in your lungs
and sadness like a silk slip you can't take off.
Your beauty isn't in the mirror —
it's in the way you fall apart in slow motion,
in the way you light a cigarette like it's your last confession,
in the way you love people who will never know your middle name.

You will never be beautiful the way they want.
But you are already —
the girl in the white dress by the pier,
the one who looks like she's waiting for a man who's already dead,
the one who sings old songs to herself in the parking lot,
the one whose tears look like diamonds under cheap motel lights.

Don't try. Just be.
Be the vinyl scratch in a perfect song.
Be the summer that broke everyone's heart.
Be the kind of pretty that hurts —
not because you're flawless,
but because you're real.
·:*¨¨*:·. ✧ .·:*¨¨*:·.·:*¨¨*:·. ✧
You will never be beautiful.
You are something rarer.
You are that girl.
The one they write poems about —
but never to.

And that —
that is your tragedy.
That is your crown.

why we need feminism
---
listen. i love lana. i really do. she gets it — that ache, that sweet melancholy of being a girl who just wants to be loved softly. but here's the thing no one wants to admit:
feminism isn't about burning bras or hating boys.
it's about being tired of being a pretty picture.
1. it's about being allowed to be complicated
i'm so done with being the "girl in a white dress" from his songs. like, my worth isn't measured by how young i look or how quiet i am or how well i fit into his fantasy. feminism is me saying — i can be sad, angry, messy, brilliant, silent, loud, and none of that depends on whether he wants me today.
2. it's about money & walking away
remember when she sang about that "expensive life"? feminism is me paying my own damn bill at dinner — not because i'm a "strong independent woman" in a cringey way, but because i want the right to leave when i want to. to disappear into the sunset on my own terms, not because his wallet says so.
3. it's about safety (and not just the physical kind)
it's about walking home at night without clutching my keys like a weapon because my skirt is "too short." it's about saying no and not having my heart race in fear. lana's world is full of broken girls, and feminism is just… trying to make sure we only get our hearts broken, not our bones.
4. it's about respect for the things we do
we don't want to be "men in dresses." we want to keep our softness, our tenderness, our desire to love and nest and cry over stupid things. but guess what? cooking, raising kids, bleeding every month — that's not "hysterical woman stuff." that's labor. that's real. and it deserves respect, not eye-rolls.
