Genuinely curious tho
Record straight up helps Cale predict the future
Do you think the foreshadowing is less of foreshadowing and more of him knowing it’s probably going to happen and being in denial anyways
Like
Thats a thought
Denial is something he does on a regular basis
So
(I mean it definitely counts as foreshadowing too lmao so there’s that)
Guys I was reading a fanfic and I just thought If something. Ok so you know how Kim rok soo (cale) was cursed cause white star took his original body?
What if the reason KRS didn't die in his childhood/the apocalypse was not based on luck but was cause KRS hated himself.
The curse is everyone KRS loves he will lose (whether from death or otherwise), right!? So does that not imply that KRS didn't love himself? Could that be the reason he survived so long? The curse kept him alive? This is just a theory but I low-key think I'm into something.
Sometimes I find myself thinking about that stone pillar at Villa da Super Rocha that sealed the shortcut connecting both continents—a passage that could only be used by monsters—and about how the seal on it, created by the heroes of Ancient Times and meant to last for 100,000 years, was broken on one side by a band of mountain bandits.
*A stone pillar surrounded by chains and magic circles—which appears to be holding a demon or something similar captive—begins to shake and jump, with the chains surrounding it snapping.* Expectation: some terrible monster—or several of them—trying to break the seal and invade the Villa. Reality: a gang of bandits trying to carve an ugly sculpture for their leader on the other pillar of the seal.
Honestly, I laughed a lot at this part, especially at Cale, because, wow, he spent weeks worrying about a possible invasion of mutant monsters in his backyard only to discover that it was all caused by some idiots who thought the pillar—surrounded by chains and looking menacing—was the best place on the entire mountain where they lived to carve a sculpture for their leader.
No terrifying monsters. No threats to the safety of his home and family. Just a bunch of clueless idiots disturbing his peace.
If I were in his shoes, I definitely would have called it a day right there and gone home to rethink my life, or just lie in bed without thinking about anything, because that situation was just too absurd.
Just started rereading tcf again and this line when Cale is first meeting caught my attention, because what do you mean Cale liked the idea that his new family was going to treat him like a stranger, what do you mean Cale had assumed he was going to quietly lived alone.
You mean as if he was used to being alone.
You mean as if anytime he loved someone they died so he was forced to live alone and this new family treating with apathy meant that they wouldn't die like all his old families.
HELLOO!!!
Cale: I am his guardian and caretaker
Also Cale: Wow who does he take after to be so smart?

Honestly Cale feeling so protective over 15 year old Alberu even tho it's only an illusion is actually so wholesome TT
Yes baby boy, you are our great and mighty dragon 😌
Penelope: Don't.
Cale: I haven't said anything.
Penelope: I know.
Cale: ...
Cale: Fine.
Alberu: You were absolutely about to do something stupid, weren't you?
Cale: Allegedly.
something something the tragedy of Team 1 is still effective narratively even though Lee Soo Hyuk and Choi Jung Soo are back with Cale because it wasn't only that his hyungs died, suffered, and left him for so many years, but also that they weren't the only people who died. The rest of the team passed away while fighting for their lives. The rest of the people the Soos were close to would never be with them again. They shared that tragedy together.
Specifically for KRS, I can't help but remember how he recorded the fight and told the reinforcements how the unranked monster fought. He obviously didn't stay still while his team was fighting; he was probably (as the strategist) instructing the rest on how they could defeat the monster, but still it wasn't enough. He didn't have enough information, and so they kept losing. But when they all died, he did have enough data to help the reinforcements because of his team's efforts and sacrifices. He hates it.
