Top 5 summertime movies
As a lover of movies this is so hard, so I'm going to be so terribly annoying and categorize — (the em dash is mine and AI can pry it from my cold dead hands) —
Summer Blockbuster Hits
Twister
Field of Dreams
Bull Durham
Jurassic Park
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Classics
Rear Window
The Graduate
To Kill a Mockingbird (we could argue Coming of Age as well)
Talented Mr. Ripley (I'll argue it's a classic now)
The African Queen
Coming of Age Stories
The Parent Trap
My Girl
Now & Then
The Sandlot
A League of Their Own
The Outliers (ones I rarely hear mentioned or as summer films that I love/d)
What About Bob?
Wet Hot American Summer (this has a big following now, and not to be that girl but when it came out on video and I happened to reach for it because I liked Stella, comedy group. So I was a fan for so many years and no one knew what I was talking about. I'm not gatekeeping , truly — enjoy! but truly no one knew the movie. And the same goes for the next one! Okay, byeeee!)
Drop Dead Gorgeous
The Wedding Singer
Midsommar (there are different shades of horror, and while there's a bit of gore here, that's not the main message, there's so much more going on here — insert Jamie Lee Curtis montage of saying grief on repeat — but it's a great piece on...that's right, grief. Maybe try it and look away when you need to but don't just lump all horror into one category, I'm begging y'all.)
