I AM BACK!
With the show coming to its close, I decided to come back and watch the last few episodes.
I havenât seen the show since the girls left Rosewood, so disclaimer: this will be a very confused watching session lol and because I missed out on so much, Iâll be posting about the episodes instead of theories like I used to.
Iâm gonna watch the show with @butshedidntgoaway and post a gif recap tomorrow
But anyways, just wanted to let you guys know Iâm back and I missed you!!!!
Do you mean to tell me weâve had three episodes watching grant ward drag his whiny ass around the framework on some psuedo-redemption-arc when we could have had ANTOINE FUCKING TRIPLETT THIS WHOLE FUCKING TIME????Â
Unbolievable.
trying to book my possibly new apartment and the website keeps fucking up
great
of course
Are you 100% leaving? I get why you want to but it's so sad!:(
I just posted my last post, my goodbye, but I thought I would reply to this one.
yes I am, and thank you for stopping by, Iâm sad too cause I AM GONNA MISS YOUR MESSAGES SO MUCH YOU HAVE NO IDEA <33333333333333333
Farewell
Well, this has been a heck of a ride
This blog started as a way for me to organize my thoughts and create theories, and then it grew into some kind of a community - yall literally made this blog into something bigger, by sending in asks and playing games, and Iâm just truly grateful for it.
I promised you guys I would explain my decision to stop blogging here, so here it goes:
. Iâm starting college this semester, and itâs something Iâve been waiting for my entire life. I plan on working really hard and being very involved - that plus working wonât leave me much time to be active here. The weeks I didnât blog that much this summer made me feel horrible, like I was letting you guys down, so itâs not something I want to do in the future.
. The second reason is that I donât feel like the show has anything to give me anymore. Now, I guess I will go on my final rant here, talking about the many things that made me give up on pll: 1. They built a show around solving mysteries, yet claim that flashbacks aren't to be trusted, and that even though people looked 15 they were actually 4, and the timelines shouldn't matter. This is a show that bases itself in showing clues - how is the audience supposed to engage if we can't trust the clues we are given? 2. Too many suspects deprive the show of true shock-factor. 3. Did a decent job redeeming Mona and Paige, but completely failed on the rest. 4. Even though I didn't like Alison on flashbacks, she was a thousand times more interesting and complex than her modern-day persona. Thereâs nothing special about her anymore and she just feels boring. 5. Filled with horrible representations of horrible relationships (from rape to abusive behavior, to having the girls forgive everyone in their lives without any of them proving they deserve forgiveness) without properly dealing with a single one. They shouldn't have to be forced to forgive every single abuser in their lives (and Iâm talking about love interests, family members, friends etc.) 6. We had better fake-reveals than the real one. They don't dare crossing the lines that would provide true shock factor, and we end up with an A that every one saw coming. The finale was boring, had too many plotholes, had no stakes, and was very poorly done. The reveal itself was very anti-climatic. I won't even talk about the transgender part cause I covered that on my 6x10 recap - but basically, itâs not a representation the transgender community deserved. And then Marlene just gives really important answers on an interview, meaning she won't cover any of that on the show. 7. The writers shouldâve played more on Charlotte growing up with Kenneth and in Radley, and her psycho side. 8. Too many questions left unanswered: How is Sara everyone? Wasnât Cece working with Alison? And where the hell was Alison during the first three seasons, and what the hell was she doing all that time?
9. Six years showing us why we should love these girls, showing us their pretty sides and their ugly truths, showing us how much they mean to each other and how far they would go to protect their friends. yet not a single event in the story had anything to do with them. she spent six years showing us these four girls being tortured by being played as dolls, and that's exactly what Marlene did. She used these girls as pawns, as dolls, for a story that wasn't theirs. I honest to god could not think of anything more disappointing than that, ever. 10. The girls don't believe they actually deserve peace and love. They accept and forgive these unforgivable acts from people around them because they blame themselves. They force themselves into this feeling of guilt, that shouldn't exist, because they never did anything truly wrong. Yet the writers never talk about this. 11. The four girls are amazing and have very distinct qualities, yet are downplayed and dumbed down for plot. They never truly grow, they never truly learn anything, not even how to deal with A. That tells me that Marlene loves more the plots than her characters, and that's not a good thing.
I separated my rant into two paragraphs cause they represent the two âmain reasonsâ for me. One is that the writers broke the unspoken rules of mystery, and the second is how they treat they main characters. The point of a mystery show is to get to a final reveal. To find out the truth. not only can we not trust the clues we are given, but we can't trust the answers we get - and that means the point of the show is lost. And if you say "but the show isn't truly about the mystery, it's about the girls", then please tell me what point did these four girls made at the end? What influence did they had to the plot? Take them away, and the story would've been the exact same. But not only were they treated like dolls in their own stories, but Marlene and the writers have constantly downplayed them - these four girls were the reason I was sticking with the show, cause I just wanted to watch them grow, but if the only instance the writers are willing to show us, for example, how brilliant Spencer is, is at a finale, while they are treated like completely stupid people throughout the seasons, then this is not something I want in my life. Watching characters I love being given nothing but crap is not something I want to watch.
ok rant over
Sorry about all of that, but like I said, it was my last one ;)
But I wanted to write this last post because I wanted to thank you guys. Thank you for every message, for every like or reblog, for every interaction, for every tag, for every theory sent my way, for any time you clicked on my blog. Thank you for making the last few years a thousand times better. I would never be able to fully express how immensely grateful I am for you guys. Thank you for participating in our games and our travel masterposts, these will definitely be my favorite memories. And thatâs the reason I wonât be deleting the blog, cause I never want these memories to be gone.
Please donât ever forget that you can always talk to me on my side blog, about anything (travel, games, how your day went, even about pll)!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sticking around. I love you guys, truly.
So Marlene tweeted there person who guess right about Cece problem is she said about A month ago. Yet she did an interview almost a yr ago where she talked about it smh.
Marlene is just.... I donât even have words anymore....
also, Iâve had a lot of people sending me cece/transgender theories for months, so thereâs no way the first person to be right was a month ago smh

I think Vanessa did a good job, the things you pointed out, point more to the bad writing, I think.... but I know what you mean. The writing really was horrible, fine, maybe not horrible, but it wasnât the best... no, I canât lie, I just... It was one of the worst written episodes...
Youâre not alone in thinking she did a good job, I saw quite a few people liking it!
Youâre right about those things pointing out more to the horrible writing (cause it really was one of the worst written episodes of anything Iâve ever watched), but I guess I also wasnât a fan of her acting style? Idk, just personal preferences haha I donât usually like when you can tell an actor/actress is playing the character? hahah I donât know how to explain it but...
But yeah, the episode was the definition of a hot mess
I AM A GOOD PERAON I DESERVED TO SEE SPENCER HASTINGS GET HER DIPLOMA
I'm going to miss you, seeing as though your blog was a favorite of mine! I absolutely agree with you about the show and our reasoning for wanting out. I feel like the writers broke so many spoken and unspoken rules of mystery. I don't even know how to articulate my thoughts at this point.. And the writers comments are making it so much worse!
Their comments really are making things worse ///:
And I think you articulated your thoughts well with âthe writers broke so many spoken and unspoken rules of mystery,â because they really truly did.
You can send me rambly confused messages here, if you canât organize your thoughts :) (and after tomorrow, you can ALWAYS send me messages on allthisandallthat, even about pll - I would love to keep in touch with yall!)
and thank you thank you thank you for saying I was one of your favorite blogs, it literally means the world to me!!!!
why didn't you like vanessa as A?!
hmm I donât know, I guess she didnât play the âpsychoâ aspect of A enough for me. We were supposed to be freaked out by her and I wasnât even close to that?
And in the other hand, she didnât make us feel sorry for her that much, so...
The times that she did play up those things felt very forced to me, like when sheâs talking to her dad, or when she sets the bomb off and goes âdammitâ, like??? thatâs it? you didnât blow up five people and your reaction is this bored âdammitâ?
Basically, I was just bored by the whole thing. I wasnât a huge fan of her acting even before. I guess after watching Troian and Janel for years I got used to insanely amazing acting haha
(but I thatâs just my opinion on it, Iâve seen some people that really liked what she did!)
You're leaving tumblr?
I am /: tomorrow is my last day on rosewoodclown
Was it the finale that made you decide to stop watching?
I think the finale was the last straw tbh
hereâs the thing about me: I love puzzles and mysteries. my future career is literally huge medical puzzles, one of my favorite authors is Agatha Christie, and the book that made me love books was called âHorror Houseâ and was about three kids solving a mystery.
I stuck by the show for a long while even though life was getting in the way. I told myself, âhey itâs ok if I have less hours to study, letâs go watch the episode again so I can come up with theories for the blog.â Because it was a puzzle, it was fun, and I thought it was worth it.
Then the finale came. And if you read my recap, you know exactly how I felt about it. But hereâs the thing: nearly all of that didnât actually make me finally decide to stop watching. It was the fact that they broke the puzzle. We all knew that flashbacks, for example, could be left a little to interpretation - but to have a scene with two teenagers then say they were 4 year olds? That destroys the purpose of the show. And sure, you can say that the purpose wasnât the mystery, but the life of the four girls: then why did they had nothing to do with the entire freaking plot? So even if the writers try to say otherwise, the mystery is a gigantic part of the show. They keep referencing chess: a person canât get to the end of the game, say âoh see, this one wasnât my real queen, it was just a piece of gum. and I just added this new piece I made up and now its the most powerful one in the gameâ and yell checkmate. Agatha Christie canât get to the end of the book and say a super important scene with a kid was actually with an old man, but Poirot just interpreted him as a kid. Mysteries donât work like that.
So even though the show itself wasnât my only reason, the fact that theories are now irrelevant and null (because if we canât trust clues and scenes, how are we supposed to create theories? or provide evidence in them?) was most definitely the last straw. Thatâs my contribution to the pll fandom: theories. And if I canât do that, then I donât think thereâs much left I can contribute /:
I'm going to miss you blog so much, but I understand <3.
Iâm gonna miss yall toooooo <3
