I have been wanting an elriel piece with badass Elain for so long and the talented katjazart made my dream come true. Elain has always been overlooked and categorized as a “weak” character. The hatred this character gets is just crazy and out of portion. In ACOWAR we get a glimpse of her powers as a seer, but we still don’t know what she is capable of. I think her book is going to shut a lot of mouths. Sarah at the end of ACOSF said that only made fae could track the dread trove. Guess who is the only one left? ELAIN.

If you look out at seer mythology they are this really powerful beings and sometimes the visions aren’t their only source of powers. So I am curious to see what Sarah has in store for us.

My theory or head canon is that Azriel will be able to help Elain. They are always compared to each other and it’s even canon that Azriel was the one who figured it out Elain was a seer. And even Feyre said that maybe he would understand her powers. Maybe his mother is a seer? Or at the same time shadowsingers are a kind of seers? They can hear what others cannot. It exists a way of divinations that uses shadows as the main power. The possibilities are endless.

This art is inspired by a scene that occurs in ACOWAR! It’s actually one of my favorite moments! I just really loved the idea of both Elain and Nesta killing the big villain!

Azriel said “What we think to be our greatest weakness can sometimes be our biggest strength. The most unlikely person can alter the course of history”.

I hate seeing Elain being reduced as insignificant, when she had a crucial part in ending the war, without her stabbing the King neither of our favorite characters would be alive.

This is my own interpretation of Elain moments before Nesta takes TT and decapitates the king! I also thought about including the shadows she stepped from as background. Those at the back forming a more concrete shadow, Azriel as one of the theories is that she used his shadows to winnow.

@jessamyart is once again the incredible artist that created this stunning scene and my partner in crime. I love working with Jess, she always manages to read my mind and create exactly what I envision. So thank you Jess, I will always treasure you for helping me bring this to life. It’s always a pleasure, and I cannot wait to see what comes next!

Steph and I had the best time discussing and brainstorming this idea. We wanted to play around with different HC for what’s to come in the ACOTAR series. This scene is based on a canon scene that happens during ACOWAR.
