Book jacket re-design for Ralph Waldo Emerson’s Self Reliance.

Emerson’s literature was heavily influenced by the time he had spent in nature. I felt it was appropriate to reflect that when re-imagining the cover for his essay, Self Reliance. I didn’t want the feel of the cover to be too serious, so as to not drive away those who may be too intimidated to start reading philosophy. Whimsical hand-lettering and a paper cut landscape felt very fitting for the concept I was aiming for, and it gave me a chance to try new mediums and expand my skill as a designer.

All hand-lettering, illustration, and paper cut work for this project were created by me.

Event campaign for the Red Carpet Bash Detroit consisting of a poster, invitation, a brochure, and letterhead.

I wanted to create something modern and sleek, while still evoking feelings of the glitz and glamour of the red carpet. I was inspired by art deco and decided to take a minimal approach to the style.

Re-branding of Coffee Beanery designed to embody a more sophisticated image. I created custom illustrations to be used on to-go cups as well as coffee bags.

Awake is an illustrated religious magazine published every second month by Jehovah’s Witnesses via the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania.

They were seeking to target younger audiences and draw them in with something that looked contemporary and relevant to the youth. I decided it was appropriate to go an experimental route.

I juxtaposed whimsical hand-lettering with minimal, geometric elements inspired by space since the magazine is heavily focused on science and creation.

A campaign for The Humane Society of Huron Valley consisting of a poster, brochure, and a postcard.

I was seeking to create an image that was more contemporary and light-hearted to reach the people in their area better.

I felt experimenting with whimsical illustrations and Swiss- inspired typography  would be a great fit for what the client was looking for. All illustrations were created by me
