meta-posting day: i can be humble and ambitious at the same time, right? well the point is, i frequently imagine myself in the position of a content creator, an authorartist with "authority" over a "thing" that i make and people like, and know of primarily in the realm of internets (but near all things these days are known through the realm.....)
i want to observe more. i think case studies are the only way to "learn" how to be a creator, to have a presence. well, there's also the concepts of Media Training and Public Relations but these are... funnythings, from my impression (like, the nature of the origins of PR haha) but might be worth Something when it comes to pursuing strategies of Parasocialization.
i'm fixated... drawn to digital happenings like author social media presence and community discordserver management experiences and however the hell some creators cope with the unpredictable variability of what their Fandom's culture will end up like, whether they have the power to cultivate their own community or not... it's deeply interesting stuff very genuinely. i think lots of people also like to observe these phenomena, but this likes to come in the form of sensationalized youtube videoessays....... youknowwhatimean ^^;
i've been extremely thoughtful about my approach to storymaking lately (travel always inspires this). rotary is mega hyper importants to me, but it is difficult to externalize my passion, especially in a "way that i want" (a perfectionist frustration). i will continue to productively write in my rotaryjournal and prioritize having fun with MyThing. in the mean time, it would also be tangibly productive to my artistic and writing skills to tackle proactivity and make some smaller-scaled StoryThings... i've many ideas all the time constantly...
yeag!

I'd suppose rotary at its core is about fantasy v reality, in many senses, mainly wrt maturity/coming of age, but like, what that even means and where it comes from, how that social clock is built. But we're not sure. I'd love to find out what my story is about some day.

happy somewhere-around-the-end-of-the-month-of-may. 7 years ago i was sitting in freshman highschool class and wanted to compile every compelling character personality trait and design attribute that i was fond of from other characters and aesthetics and whatnot into one entity and then i named it vitaly.

i’ve finally unlisted the comic from where i was hosting it! you can take a look…

REGARDING Fletcher-or-whatever-rename-i-give-it, godly omnipresent abstract concept characters are so cool... I certainly must explore more of this.
There is a brief ramble I had explaining it with a friend once.
The idea of a god devoid of the complexity and pleasures and limits that a human has and desiring to feel what that's like probably also exists in other things. It's a logical conclusion to draw, I feel, when even just pondering existence.
Lately I feel inspired by Mindgame 2004's God, the Jerry's from disneypixarfilm Soul (which could have been waaaay better), and like, the whole deal with Everything Everywhere All At Once, because who isnt. We have to explore.
I ought to get into the speculative philosophy about the concepts of "fantasy/magic" since when talking about things that are "Real" we just kind of. Know what is real and know what is not real.
Fantasy is Not Possible in Our World under our Structure and Rules of Reality but the IDEA of Fantasy is still "Real" because we are able to create the idea. Humans have a unique capability in that they can form ideas, which is a real thing they can do.
I am trying, in Rotary, to implement geographic and geopolitical divide in the world by creating a continent (or group of continents or just one of two hemispheres) thats physical features are entirely based in reality and thus its sovereignty aims to maintain REALISM. While the other side of this is a region based in FANTASY. A region where things look and function and exist "weirdly," looking colorful and magical and eccentric and indulgent and such.
How would, in this world, the FANTASY region even be recognized as not being based in reality if it proves itself to be real by existing? By not being able to be explained by science? By the fantasy qualities only spawning long after realism was established, thus existing as anomalous to what is considered normal?
It's very speculative, but there is probably a way to pull this off. I almost want to incorporate even the concept of "hand wavey plot hole explanations" as a narrative theme that like, is part of the narrative rather than (or ig along with) the meta narrative concept of a plot hole.
Oh, yes I made a doodle entertaining this long ago.
BTW I want even the Realistic region to have organisms and physical features that are "tainted" with fantasy, like it bled over to there. Cos obviously in Realism area there are still people with naturally eccentric colored hair and eyes and features, so they wouldnt be "pure." Could you imagine the implications 😄 so we will see...
The whole "developing some grandiose worldbuilding project since your teens" thing always has moments that feel like you're slowly chipping away at the stone of something that you want to be something else, and the vision of the final product is sort of there, but there's so much figuring it out along the way. And that's over the course of like, years.
And because what you make is (/comes from) a culmination of everything you know, and you know more things as you grow, then you have more context and enlightenment and whatever to go back to your big board and revise. If you keep in mind from the start that nothing is sacred then you won't feel hesitation to make even big changes with your project.
You can have a hand in the efficiency of your own development process by pinpointing what "things" you should learn to get closer to that vision of the final product. For me, it's a lot of geography, world history, philosophy, social issues, and umm, however the hell cars work and how to drive or something.
Happy Rotary Day one time i made dusk rotation into babys. Cheers
practice to get more comfortable with making pictures i like. the dialogue is funny but just too personally revealing yay.
