Phase : During (The Event)
âAll of you are always welcome at my house,â Morgan told them. A house always felt more like a home when it was filled with people you loved.
âYes, please bring it,â she told Mia. âIâve missed losing myself in one of those. Feels like lying on a cloud.â Morgan had enough seating but it never hurt to have more options to spread out on. Whenever Fiona slept over Morgan would drag her mattress downstairs and put it on the floor in front of their sectional. Then she went to work on making a huge nest of blankets and pillows for maximum comfort. She wondered if Fiona would want to join them for this, but she wasnât sure. It might be too much for her.
âImagine being haunted by the ghost of your daughter who just wants to be emancipated.â Morgan laughed with Mia. âWhatever you decide, I think you know now that weâve got you. Donât stress okay? If you decide not to stay, a girls trip to New Zealand sounds really fun.â

Claudiaâs eyes widened and she leaned back slightly. Carmenâs exuberance was awe-inspiring if somewhat unexpected. She hadnât expected this to be so interesting to the rest of them. âRespectfully, I would like that. It sounds very exciting.â
She had no idea what a love sac was and she was a bit afraid to ask. Floating on a cloud could be good. If she could get into whatever it was. Or out of it. Claudia clutched her scepter a little tighter.
âThere are so many people that would want to help you. Iâm sure of it. Youâre sunshine.â She smiled. Miaâs plan was a bit far fetched but maybe stranger things had happened? âThat would be quite the haunting. A ghost harassing you to sign paperwork and get it notarized.â The steps alone were hilarious. âBut the choice is ultimately yours. Itâs your life and you should get a say in it.â
Carmen clapped in delight. âOh this will be amazing. Weâll make it the perfect first sleepover. Thank you for trusting us with this.â It was an honour and she would not let her down.
Youâre sunshine. Claudiaâs words had Carmen staring at her side profile, distracted by how pretty she was. The way her hair flowed and the slope of her cute little nose. Nobody had ever called Carmen sunshine before. She did feel warm in a very comforting kind of way. But she thought that had more to do with the girls around her and the alcohol in her system. It wasnât her. âThank you. It means a lot.â
âHaunting someone when Iâm still here does sound kind of fun,â she told them, trying to move herself on so she didnât cry again. âLots of options, which is great when I felt like I had zero.â

"I will, maybe I should buy more." They all deserved the chance to be on a cloud. It was a wonderful sensation. Mia noticed Claudia's confusion. "It's like a big pillow that you sit on top of, but it surrounds you. It's fun, promise."
Mia had never been in Carmen's shoes, but she knew what it was like to find a home in an unfamiliar place. Moving to West Ham hadn't been easy for her and it'd taken time for her to find the life she wanted here. She couldn't imagine never being able to go back to her favorite spots here. "I would happily help you stage a haunting, but we can also fly back and forth a lot. I have a million airline miles and I'm sure Claudia has a private jet or something." She laughed. "So, you have plenty of options. And we can always brainstorm more."
