moira’s  steady  hand  v.  the  needle  inserted,  her  free  hand  resting  upon  the  girl’s  shoulder  as  to  keep  her  arm  still.  a  strand  of  brown  hair  falls  in  front  of  brown  eyes.  she  plays  this  role  often,  truthfully.  this  conduit  for  SHIELD  ﹠.  XAVIER  alike.  how  they  look  at  her  ﹠.  see  a  role  more  than  a  person.

she  glares  at  the  assigned  shield  agent  watching  the  door.  he  leaves  without  a  second  thought.  she  thinks  of  the  first  time  she  met  the  girl.  fury’s  lackey,  then,  still  with  the  CIA  ﹠.  begging  for  a  life  better  than  what  she  was  given.  one  life  turned  to  two,  then  three,  then  ten.  ﹠.  she  had  watched  little  kate  rogers  dance  —-  she  had  left  soon  after.  maybe  because  she  saw  something  of  her  former  self  in  those  pointe  shoes,  a  faceless  child  in  pink  tulle  ;  it  wasn’t  jealousy  so  much  as  a  sadness  gnawing  away  at  bones,  doing  more  damage  than  rapidly  decaying  cells  ever  could.

 the  constant  prodding  of  dove’s  flesh  was  growing  familiar  to  her,  but   she  was  never  made  less  ill-at-ease.  to  keep  the  anxiety  at  bay  (  which, truth  be  told,  was   never  a  success ),  perilous  mind  would  wander  over  to  read  prose  or  old  steps.  but  when  the  needle  sunk  into  skin,  she flinched — memories  of  her  demise  flashing  in her  irises.  it  was  often  ocean  eyne   leaked  like  a  faucet  ;  crystals dancing  upon  spider  lashes.  not  to  be  mistaken  as  a  reaction  to  the  injection,  of  course.  the  thought of  her  deceitful   lover’s  master  plan  was  painful  enough  on  its  own. 

“ I’m.  .  .   I’m  sorry, ”   in  reference  to  her  arm  jerking,  a  reaction  of   the  fight   or   flight  variety.   eyelids  shut  like  window  panes.  she  needs  a  moment  to  breathe.

it  wasn’t  always  moira  who  ran  tests,  but  she  was  preferred.

what  flows  through  her  veins  is  the  blood  of  a  former  mother  turned  self   —-  exiled  savior  of  mutantkind.  the  one  that  has  seen  them  die  each  time.  the  one  that,  when  she  enters  the  room,  trumpets  play  ﹠.  her  casket  opens  in  case  her  time  runs  out.  her  cells  decay  ﹠.  she  is  forced  to  live  through  the  constant  ache.  such  is  so,  as  the  woman  that  knows  so  much  ﹠.  yet  so  little.〝  i  have  to  know  who  .  .  〞‬  rosebud  lips  stained  red,  lower  bitten  into.  nervous  to  ask,  nervous  to  force  her  to  think  about  it  more  than  she  already  has.  killed  you  remains  unspoken  but  hangs  heavy  between  two. 〝  it’s  okay  if  you  don’t  want  to  say  so.  i  was  just  asked  to  ask.  〞‬
