The woman facing him was beautiful from an objective point of view but he found the way she remained so calm, barely showing emotion extremely unnerving. It took away from her beauty, in another light she might have seemed serene but to Marius she simply appeared cold.
He chuckled, the sound a parody of genuine laughter. All mocking and pitiful almost. “Making barely veiled threats in broad daylight. I’d like to see your version of reckless. Must be pretty entertaining.” he remarked.
He turned his back on the woman, grabbing some napkins to try and repair the damage caused, realizing mere seconds later that dabbing at his shirt as he was doing was useless and living it alone, throwing the napkins in the nearby trashcan. At the jab at his sarcasm comment, he smirked to himself.
"Well my mother always told me to use irony for humour and not sarcasm because it’s meaner so following that logic, I used it exactly right. And who am I to argue?"
And there it was that hint of regret. Given her cool and collected demeanor he assumed the woman must have taken her previous outburst for an aggression and was trying to make up for it, far from even entertaining the thought of humoring her, he made a jab at her offer instead. “How about an iced tea, it would go well with our current predicament.”
She had to admit he'd had her there. Making threats of that magnitude in a place that she often frequented was not something she should be engaging in, let alone something she did often. It occurred to her that the threats involved in her new mentor-ship of a new found friend had bothered her more than she thought.
Suddenly she had become more volatile than she had usually been, more on edge. Her face softened in an attempt to rid herself of her fears, at least in public, as she doubted they would dissolve with a simple matter of willingness. There were something not even she could control.
When his back was turned she sought out anyone watching. It had seemed that most had lost their interest, if they had any in the first place, and the steadiness of their heartbeats told her they had no suspicions. Of course, any fellow vampire would be a depiction of cool and had no pulsing blood to prove otherwise. She could not see one at first glance but that didn't mean they were not there. Hyun was cracking. She could not afford to do that anywhere, but in public that spelled trouble.
She smiled at his anecdote but to be truly honest, she was not listening all that much. Her mind had been overtaken by the thoughts of Odette paying for her mistakes. "Of course. Any particular flavor?" She did not care for the joke, or whatever it was. She wanted to get out of there and fast. She got out her purse and took out some notes to pay, taking her place in the queue. He would notice her attention drifting, but hopefully he would not comment on it, labeling it yet another trait of her enigmatic nature. Though he was a stranger and would not know that becoming introverted at a seconds notice was a common thing for her, therefore she waited for the aggression to re-submerge from the male. Not that she would take note of his words. She just did not want a scene, not again, because then people would really take notice.
