The Olivia Moultrie situation is strange
I have no doubt she is a great player and more mature than other fifteen year olds in some sense but I think this goes beyond the scope of āsigning a young playerā
The youngest age to sign is eighteen in the United States and even that I feel is very young to decide if can and want to do this professionally.
She seems to be pigeonholed and pushed by her parents to accomplish this feat that may or may not lead to the best things in the future.
I think itās interesting to listen to older players like Kelley or Alex or even Lindsey on when they decided āsoccer was it.ā
Kelley was 14 or 15 when she decided to CONSIDER playing soccer in college. Alex was like 16. Lindsey talks about the IMMENSE difficulty signing out of high school.
Iām not sure why the college route or AT LEAST waiting to eighteen seems like such a huge problem for this player when we know it leads to success on and off the national team.
It feels like such an circus funded by Nike and rich parents to create an unnecessary feat for who? And for what? What is their goal beyond this? I would really like to know.
Olivia should get a childhood and an education ā formally and not half-assed part-time on-line homeschooling or whatever āand THEN turn pro. They are taking horrible advantage of this child.
