Maple Street Monsters

Strange occurrences have shocked and mortified the residents of our very own local Maple Street. At around quarter to seven on Monday night, a flash of light and a screeching roar turns chaotic. Power turns off, car engines won’t turn on, and radios refuse to function. Early on, people tried to convince their neighbors, as well as themselves, that nothing was wrong. Some residents, including Steve Brand and Charlie, claimed it was just a meteor or a sunspot. Suspicion rose as a fourteen-year-old boy named Tommy chose to speak to the crowd. According to Tommy, “It’s aliens! This happens all the time in my comic books! The aliens don’t want anyone to leave! In my books, they always send ahead people that look like humans! But they’re not, they’re aliens!” People laughed at Tommy, said he needed to stop reading comic books, but little did they know how much worse things would get.

Later on in the evening, Les Goodman’s car wouldn’t start no matter what he did. A few minutes later, witnesses say “He was feet away from it, and it just turned on!” His neighbors swarmed him, motivated by fear, accusing him of being “different”. Les tried to tell everyone that he was just like them, he had been their neighbor for years, but the mob wasn’t having it. A woman speaks up telling the group that Les sometimes stays up at night and looks to the stars. He retaliates with “You know what I’m guilty of? I’m guilty of insomnia.” By then, the nightmarish behavior had only just started. Later on, Pete Van Horn was walking towards the group of residents when Charlie grabbed a shotgun from Steve’s hands. He shoots Pete, and immediately is surrounded by the group. Charlie says “He came walking out of the darkness! How was I supposed to know he wasn’t a monster or something!? I was just trying to protect my home. I didn’t know it was him.” Shortly after the shooting, the lights in Charlie’s house turned on. Charlie and his wife were accused and blamed within seconds. The madness and the accusations skyrocketed. It was pandemonium on our own peaceful, quiet Maple Street. Residents grabbed guns and torches, anything they could find. Three were killed, and four were wounded by the time police showed up and stopped the chaos. The deceased include Pete Van Horn, Steve Brand, and Don Martin. Remember, next time you think that you’re in danger, make sure you aren’t the monster yourself.

Chaos on Maple Street

Recently an unknown flying object flew over Maple street at approximately 6:43 pm. Resident Steve Brand claims “there was a flash of light and a roaring sound.” Unfortunately he was unable to get a clear few of the object. Directly after the strange object crossed the sky all power on Maple Street went out. However it was an unusual power outage, all cars and phones were unable to operate as well. Fourteen year old Tommy, a resident on Maple Street made an accusation that “aliens were the cause.” In result of the statement Maple Street went into chaos accusing their own neighbors of being aliens.

Through all the activity on Maple Street there is 3 documented accusations against Les Goodman, Charlie, and Steve Brand, whom were all accused of being aliens. The reasoning for the claim against Goodman is the starting of his unmanned car, which led a mob outside his home. Also the blame was given to Charlie after the lights in his house flickered on and off. Then an allegation was placed upon Steve Brand for his unknown radio that witnesses say, “he’s been working on it for quite a while now.” We are also sorry to inform you that one of Maple Streets own, Pete van Horn was murdered by Charlie.

An object that was observed as a meteor appeared over Maple Street in Roswell, New Mexico last night. All things that required power suddenly shut down. Somehow, only Maple Street was affected. The neighbors there started to realize the problem until one teenager, 14, proclaimed that space aliens had begun to attack the world starting with Maple Street. The citizens then started accusing one neighbor, 38, of being a space alien. One of the neighbors took charge and tried to stop the havoc. However, the accusations continued to flow as the situation turned to an every-man-for-himself mentality. Until it seemed that the Maple Street civilians had solved their problems, a figure started waltzing down the road. One citizen became so self-protective that he grabbed a rifle from his garage and shot the figure. It turned out to be one of the neighbors, Pete van Horn, who went to discover if the power was out elsewhere. So far, this is the only death confirmed. Anyone who has similar problems in their neighborhood should report this event by calling 912- the alien report hotline.

The Monsters are due on Maple Street?

On Friday, There were sightings of odd figures believed to be monsters. They want to invade and have a strange way of doing so. They simply have just made every one go mad and a man that remains unidentified shot old Pete Van Horn. These weird activities started when a flash of light and an unidentified flying object (UFO) knocked the power out. We have word from a couple people from Maple Street.

We got word from Don and Steve. Don said, “I think Les Goodman and Charlie did this because they are the only ones who had a working car and lights on in their houses.” Steve said, “They tried to blame me just because I worked in my basement on a portable radio. Clearly there was something wrong on Maple Street now that we have heard from people on Maple Street.

This was just a simple power outage until a 14 year old boy named Tommy told everyone something that happened in his comic book. He thought that there were aliens here and they are disguised as humans. As soon as Tommy told everyone his ridiculous story everyone started to pin each other as aliens. Cleary these people are desperate to know what is going on because they believe a story from a comic book told by a 14 year old boy.

Maple Street Monsters

Maple Street ~ People were living a normal life on a Saturday evening when all of a sudden a flash of light caused a power outage. This was the start of the strange “alien” activities. A few minutes after the flash we interviewed Tommy, a 14 year old boy. He stated that, “All of this mayhem was caused by an alien.” Then he said, “The alien sent a host family down.”

A few minutes later Les Goodman’s car suddenly starts. This caused the neighborhood residents to accuse Les Goodman as an “alien.” This began the violent mob of people accusing each other. The mob got out of control and this lead to a tragic death of Pete Van horn. We interviewed the killer, Charlie. He said that,” I didn’t mean to. It was all an accident.”

Even after this tragic incident the mob didn’t stop. They still accused each other and they did this until they fell apart. This shows that the real monsters were not the aliens, but the residents of Maple Street.

Madness on Maple Street

Maple Street has been thrown into chaos over the past few days. All the problems have turned the small town street’s residents against themselves. Starting with a suspected meteor pass overhead on Tuesday, March 11 the chaos has erupted into loss of electricity, all communication systems have been blocked, public and private transportation has been brought to a standstill, and the madness has captured its first fatality.

A flash of light and a loud roaring sound was reported on Tuesday. It was confirmed that no trains were in the area that could have caused this noise. Eyewitness accounts on Maple Street have said that what was suspected to be a meteor passed overhead creating the flash and loud noise.

Yesterday, Pete Van Horn was shot with a shotgun on his way back from his walk to Floral Street. Charlie used Don’s shot gun and shot Pete. Charlie claims that he suspected Pete as an alien and shot him bysssp accident. Police has not started an investigation to find the true cause of this horrific event.

With all the chaos and madness that has unfolded on Maple Street, no one knows who is to blame for everything. All of the residents on Maple Street have started an accusing riot and cannot set their mind to whom to blame.

"The Monsters are Due on Maple Street" Review: What was that?

Just recently, the play “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street” made its debut. It is about the coming of aliens. It’s supposed to teach the audiences that fear can influence our perception of others. Here is what we, the PerfectPress®, thought about the play.

On June 23, 1960, we attended the midnight premiere of “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street” at the Rose Theatre. The play was horrible! Every part of it was highly illogical, from the aliens, to the cars starting by themselves, and so much more. The scenes in the play were annoying and repetitive, and the ending was confusing.

“The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street” tells the fictional story of how the neighbors on Maple Street turned against each other for the fear of aliens. It was just a normal, sunny afternoon on Maple Street, when a flash of light soared across the sky with a roar. Right after that, all of the neighbors’ devices stopped working. At first, the neighbors thought it could be a meteor, but then, a boy named Tommy claimed that there were aliens on that very street and that one of the neighbors was an alien disguised as a human. We began to think that this play could be quite interesting, but then, all of the neighbors started accusing each other of being the alien. This is where the play went downhill. The accusations were entertaining at first, but after awhile, they started to become irritating. Practically the entire play was made up of the neighbors accusing each other. There was no real action, excitement, or other events in this play. Though there was quite some suspicion on who the guilty person might be, the play was not interesting enough to keep the audience engaged.

Maybe if the production of “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street” had a bit more eye-catching or mouth-dropping events, it could’ve been a more successful hit. The only part that could possibly be described as “exciting” was when Charlie shot Pete Van Horn. This scene was very short, and the play just moves back to the neighbors accusing each other. If the climax was just a little longer and more detailed, it could’ve made the play a little bit better. Sadly, in the perspective of the PerfectPress®, there was no good part in this production.

Another reason that “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street” was so bad was the ending. The ending was too quick and puzzling. The “aliens” didn’t even look like what most people imagine to be aliens! They were just regular people in white clothing. Plus, the ending was very vague. This conclusion made the play even worse.

In the opinion of the PerfectPress®, the “Monsters Are Due on Maple Street” is a production that should not be seen. The playwright did a poor job on this play. It is a waste of money. Meteor Menace on Maple Street

Last Friday, June 18th 1959, a calamity took place on Maple St. The calm and mellow neighborhood was disrupted by an unknown mass in the sky. Thus unknown mass is thought to be a meteor. Shortly after the meteor passed, all the electrical appliances in the neighborhood stopped functioning. Although the cause of this event is uncertain, the residents believe that aliens were the masterminds behind it. A 14 year old boy named Tommy proposed this theory. Blinded by fear the neighbors turned on each other, which lead to Pete Van Horn’s death. We interviewed a number of people who witnessed these events. One was Steve Brand who stated the following, “The neighborhood was scared and started accusing one another for being an alien. First the blame was on Les Goodman then on me and then Charlie, who killed Pete. I strongly believe Charlie’s the alien here and I will prove that I’m right.” HMS weekly also interviewed Charlie who said the following, “I didn’t mean to kill Pete, I was just scared and I’m not the alien; it’s the boy, Tommy.” Our sources got numerous responses about who the alien is; no matter whom it is an alien will be a threat to our whole community.

MADNESS ON MAPLE STREET

Residents on Maple Street believe one of them is an alien. At about 1 o’clock in the afternoon on Maple Street, all power had gone out. No cars, no phone, no lights. Neighbors could not comprehend why this event had occurred according to an eyewitness, Steve McDonald. Panic had stricken throughout the area. According to residents, a beam of light had panned across the neighborhood before the odd event. Some said it was a meteor that caused this, but no one had heard of a meteor that shut off all electricity.

14 year old Tommy Smith claimed “One after the other was accused of being this “alien family.” Lights had been flickering on and off in one man’s home, then in another cars would randomly start. Pine Straw University states “A meteor would never cause an electricity outage.” We interviewed locals on

Floral Street, asking what happened around 1 in the afternoon. Mary Lane stated “We heard a loud crash and everything went dark for about 3 minutes. Then all of a sudden, a man who called himself by the name of Pete Van Horne came along. He talked to my husband and left. We never saw sight of Horne again.” Charlie Potter admitted to authorities that it was he who accidently shot Pete Van Horne. “I thought he was a monster!” Charlie stated “I didn’t mean too! How was I supposed to know it was him?” Oak Town authorities are still looking intothis event.

Monsters on Maple Street

On a late summer evening on Maple Street, at precisely 6:43 pm, citizens looked up at the sky to see a flash of light. Shortly after, all the power in the street went out. Many people were curious, but others accused it of simply being a power outage. We interviewed a woman who asked her identity be kept anonymous. She told U.S. “She couldn’t get anything on radio, not even the portable,” which should have worked if there was a power outage. They made many accusations over the night, but then, new information came about, which led the people of Maple St. to believe aliens to blame.

We interviewed a little boy named Tommy, who told U.S. about the “alien invasion”. Tommy, claimed, “They don’t want us to leave… that’s why they shut everything off… It’s always that way in every story I ever read about a ship landing from outer space”. This exact statement is what led the town into complete chaos. While contemplating about whom among them was responsible for the strange occurrences, a neighbor, Pete Vanhorn, emerged from the next town to report information. Sadly, he was mistaken for a nonhuman life form. Mr. Vanhorn was shot and killed that night. While his family mourns for him the town remains living in true fear.

Every Monday you may be tuning in to The Twilight Zone. Many of you saw the most recent episode last Monday, The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street. For those of you who missed it- is it worth your time? Several of you have been asking for a Rotten Potatoes review on this specific episode.

The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street is a scientific fiction teleplay written by Rod Serling that premiered on March 4, 1959 on The Twilight Zone. The episode previews the human nature when faced fear, suspicion, and confusion. It takes place in Maple Street, USA with the neighborhood in a state of peace until a flash lights dashes across the sky followed by a roar. Afterwards cars won’t start, electricity dies, phone lines go dead, and heat and gas go out. The residents first suspect it was a meteor, until 14 year old Tommy makes them believe the cause of the events were aliens. He describes them as an ordinary family disguising their alien nature as humans. Accusations spread, and only further when Les Goodman’s car unexpectedly starts on its own.

The street is thrown into chaos and paranoia, even causing one man to kill another. It’s not long before the street has turned against each other, each friend now an enemy. Two figures are shown at the end and state that Maple Street is nothing out of the usual, for everyone can do outrageous things when under fearful and stressful circumstances. The episode is riveting and makes you think. The teleplay is well written and well casted, yet some believe it could’ve been better if the “figures” had been part of the government experimenting on the country. Nonetheless, the ending is open to opinion and the rest is suspenseful and altogether a fantastic episode.

So what do you think? Is this episode worth watching? Our rating is 89% . The episode could’ve easily been a 100% if it had been more realistic. Rotten Potatoes thinks that if the ending would have been more conclusive to the fact that the “figures” were aliens, humans, or none of the above. We also think that if the acting and effects were better displayed, it would have improved the drama. Overall the teleplay was well written and kept everyone on the edge of their seats, just what everyone wants in a good drama. The results from the people who took part of the poll graded this a 92% .It seems like most of the viewers enjoyed the glimpse of a normal street in panic due to a paranormal cause. However there were few who criticized its rationality. They commented saying that most normal streets wouldn’t go into panic over a couple power outages and the foolish belief of what a small boy unscientifically says about aliens. Some also said the appearance of some well-known actors, didn’t exactly help the episode overall. Despite the tone of the review (negative or positive) everyone had at least something to say about The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street.

OMG this episode is so UNREALISTIC like ALIENS??? SRSLY who in the right mind would believe something that a 14 year old boy says about his COMIC BOOKS!?! It wasn’t even scientifically backed up. Never the less it was still a suspenseful episode.

I particularly loved this episode on the Twilight Zone. It was definitely the best yet. The plot was fantastic and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! I loved the way a typical neighborhood was so easily turned into a battlefield.

Massacre on Maple Street

On Friday the 13, police arrived at Maple Street to find that most of the residents have been killed or badly injured. The residents were seen blaming each other for a power outage that mysteriously wiped out all power in the area. The remaining residents told the police that the violence was triggered by the death of Pete van horn, a resident checking if anyone else in the area had power. Residents then started to blame and attack each other using anything available, from guns to rocks.

Eyewitness Icecr Eamman says they were a close knit neighborhood living with each other for many years, but a loud flash of light that rendered all of the power off started the conflict. Tommy, a 14 boy, started the thought that there may be aliens hiding among them. Psychologists think that the chain of fighting started when Charlie, a resident whose mind was believed to beat his limit, shot neighbor Pete Van Horn dead using a shotgun 10 minutes till one AM. Survivors said a mob had formed and that is what caused the fighting.

The engineers at Tomcat were bewildered at the power outage because they say no lines had been broken and the generator would not start. Police chief Ty Candy was interviewed about what he thought. Ty thought when he heard about the power outage and the breakdown of the community was just a rumor because everywhere else there was power, but when he got to Maple St, he saw the bodies and that there was no power in any device. Power has not been restored to Maple Street, but police say they will have power running in the next few days and has taken 5 suspects into custody including 2 strangely tall figures.

Monsters or Meteors?

Maple Street Oklahoma-Chaos struck the peaceful neighborhood of Maple Street on a late September evening at 6:45. According to an eyewitness, a flash of light struck the sky causing an electrical power outage among all the houses on Maple Street. This caused much anxiety between all the neighbors and curiosity.

Some neighbors were concerned because of a 14 year old boy’s imagination. We interviewed Tommy Smith this imaginative boy, to see what his thoughts were. He claims that it wasn’t a meteor, in fact he says it was an alien invasion. Many neighbors were quick to question why Tommy assumed this was an alien attack. Young Tommy’s answer was shocking. It was what happened in his comic book. Tommy also mentioned that one of the families in the comic book was not who everyone else thought they were; the family was really aliens in disguise. An eyewitness to the mayhem that Tommy’s story caused said families that had been friends for years started shouting and turning on each other.

It was reported that Don Martin then noticed a light flicker on at the end of the street. A couple more lights then turned on and as quick as they turned on they all went off. Soon the neighborhood was in chaos. That’s when they saw a figure emerging from the shadows. Without hesitation, Charlie Brown grabbed his shotgun and shot the figure.

The crowd flocked toward the figure who had just been shot. It turned out to be Pete Van Horn. Pete had gone to Floral Street, a street that backs up to Maple Street, to see if their power was out. We later interviewed a resident of Floral Street who said that they did not experience the power outage and never saw Pete Van Horn, which leads us to question what was Van Horn doing?

Mr. Brown has been taken into custody since the shooting and will be brought in front of a court on Monday. We received a statement from a close source to Mr. Brown who said he wouldn’t hurt a fly. It is expected that his attorney will say he was just defending his family and friends from a potential danger.

We may not know all that happened on that eventful night on Maple Street, but we are sure that this was more than just a meteor.

Aliens on Maple Street

Maple Street, NC-At 6:43 p.m. Eastern Standard Time last night, Maple Street lost power. No one knows why, but in a case like this, the answer may lead to something extra-terrestrial. The people were thrown into a riot and instead of trying to solve things logically, they blamed each other and even killed someone!

It may seem far ‘fetched, and many would say the people are paranoid. The people tell us that a bright object flew overhead before the power went out. It wasn’t just the power though. Even things that don’t run on electricity like crank radios were unusable. They also told Trash Can Times that apparently all of this confusion was caused by a 14 year old boy by the name of Tommy. “Tommy had said something about aliens that were sent disguised as humans.” said a local resident. “He surely can’t be serious?!” another said. So far, the only progress they have gotten to find the culprit or “extra-terrestrial” is killing someone and starting many riots. Not much progress there. A prime suspect was Mr. Goodman. Locals tell us that he wakes up in the middle of the night and looks up in the sky as if he were waiting for something. Perhaps it was the alleged space ship.

We interviewed Steve Brand, one of the only intelligent people on the street. “I tried to calm the people down.” Steve told us. “It only got worse as the problem progressed.” We then interviewed Charlie, about whom the locals told us killed a man by the name of Pete van Horn. “I am completely dumbfounded but, I have no regrets.” told a reluctant Charlie. “It just happened so quickly….” Charlie is expected in court on Friday.

The real question is, was it aliens? We think yes. Others who have heard of this story told us that the people are idiots and could have handled the situation better. We agree, but it leaves us to wonder what you and I would do in that situation.

Meteor Leads to Mortality (Liz, Caitlin, and Alex)

It was a bright, steaming, summer evening, when a startling burst of bright light flew across the sky. At precisely 6:43 pm, the residents of Maple Street cautiously walked into the street, alarmed by the frightening flash and loss of electricity.

“Even the cars didn’t work.” Les Goodman said.

“It could’ve been an electrical storm from a meteor.” Dan stated.

Most of the residents of Maple Street believed that the flash was caused by a meteor. However, what can’t be explained, is that neither the cars nor the portable radios were working. Sources told us that Tommy, a 14 year old boy, and Maple Street resident, suggested that aliens were responsible for the strange occurrences. At first the neighbors believed this hypothesis to be preposterous, but as a crisis began to develop, so did the theory of space creatures.

Steve quickly dismissed the thought by saying the explanation must be sunspots. However, fear continued to plague the distressed people. The frightened residents quickly began to turn on each other, causing an “every man for himself” mentality.

Eventually the fights became overly aggressive and got out of hand. Witnesses on the scene informed us that Charlie Smith shot Pete Van Horn. Van Horn had been returning from a brief visit to see the status of neighboring street, Floral Street. Charlie stated to the press that he was “unaware that it was Pete Van Horn because of blurry fog distorting his vision” and that he “feared for his life.”

The true identity of the suspicious flying object, and cause of the madness, is yet to be determined as the mayhem on Maple Street unfolds.
