I need to trim my dashboard and some other things. I decided to rename this blog to be an archive and to start a new blog. I have the same username as before: rowofstars.
I'd love to come back to Tumblr, but I seriously cannot be on this site for 2 minutes without wanting to rage, cry, or close the tab it's in.

Kristen Mcmenamy stars as a lost mermaid in on of my FAVORITE editorials, “Far, Far From Land” for W December 2013 by photographed by the one and only, Tim Walker (continued)
This is you. This is where all your thoughts are kept. Every other part of your body is used to protect and sustain this.
I want to cry
it’s weirdly comforting to know that all of the meaningless bullshit society judges me on is just a meatsuit made to support the terrifying tentacle beast that is my true form (◡‿◡✿)
THAT LAST COMMENT. BAM.
Forget “strong male figures.” Look for strong figures. Period. Your father. Your mother. Your sister. Your best friend. Forget “gentle female figures.” Look for gentle figures. Period. Your father. Your mother. Your brother. Your significant other.
Find strength, and honor, and peace, and compassion, and wisdom, and silliness, and faith, and respect, and hope. Find these things wherever you can, shining from anyone and everyone you are lucky enough to stumble across. Gender does not shape the significance of your greatest attributes. Gender does not shape the person you are. Sooner or later, as a species, we really will have to reconcile with this.
#it has never #and will never #make sense to me #that we ‘assign’ character attributes to men and women in such an arbitrary fashion #gender roles are idiotic. i have believed this since long before i even knew what they were. #but the idea that my grandfather is inherently braver than my grandmother #or that my father has a diminished capacity for comfort in relation to my mother#is so patently insane that i can’t possibly rationalize the fact that we do this every day #that film. and television. and books. and advertisements. and the people we surround ourselves with #are forever punching home this genuinely baseless accusation #that the shape of your body somehow reflects the shape of your soul #i mean whose universe is that and why on earth would any of us want to live there?
Just a simple PSA

Elsewhere, it would be remiss to point out that while the film makes very little effort to support it’s technobabble, the crux of the action is Thor and Jane working together to save the world WITH SCIENCE! Now that is how you use an astrophysicist in your superhero movie. I don’t care if it actually makes sense, I want Jane to go from world to world with Thor and save people with science. Or they could just have a television show for kids on PBS where Thor is her big smiley lab assistant who never wears protective gear.
